To be honest, I'm looking for schools nearby only. I'm from West Tambaram and I do not want my kid to travel long distance at this age.

Apart from SSM, I'm also considering Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Chrompet & Good Earth School, Naduveerapattu. But, my kid may fall short of age criteria for Good Earth School. Vivekananda Vidyalaya do not have transport facility and prefer kids nearby.

Right now, I have applied for SSM and I guess, I'll settle with SSM even though there are few cons. For sure, I'll give a shot for Vivekananda Vidyalaya & Good Earth School.

Also, I think SSM is reputed enough to listen to parents if many started to pull out or -ve word-of-mouth spreads. I guess, SSM will fix all those issues whatsoever said in the coming years (just believing).

Nevertheless, whatever school you have decided, ensure that the school has
  • Qualified and experienced teachers
  • Good teaching methods
  • Provide sufficient extra-curricular activities
  • Good environmental conditions
  • Fully equipped infrastructure
  • Reputation
  • Most importantly, they can bring in good teachers and sustain them
These are just my views...

SSM students growth for every year
2011 - 12  -   4117  students
2012-13    -   3290  students (Includes Fresh JM1,SMI admissions)
More than 20% students withdrawn their admission.

Sadan 2013-11-14 14:48:43

You are getting the facts wrong .SSM Chrompet is going to wind their activities in a phased manner and will be having only Std XI and XII functioning there .Also they are withdrawing transport facilities for children who come from beyond 10 kms from the school .In the future SSM Perungalathur will be become the main school .A circular has been send in this regard providing an option to get TC .Many parents who hail from Chrompet and nearby areas find the school at Perungalathur too far and hence have chosen to withdraw their kids.

@ rsp82 - Provided you have got the admission forms in SSM, for now there is not a deny that SSM is the best of all options. Which std you are seeking admission?

yes, as Sadan mentioned, owing to various factors which also includes availability of new schools in Tambaram zone, I dont find any STRONG reason for the head count decrease in SSM. It is by all means still the trust worthy option.

rsp82 2013-11-14 15:20:20

I applied for JM1

rsp82 2013-11-14 16:13:05

@Krishna123, where do you put up? what are the schools you are looking for?

Krishna123 2013-11-14 16:15:29

Sadan:Thanks for clarification.

Krishna123 2013-11-14 18:30:49

Horizon in my mind or continue to eurokids.

skneya 2013-11-16 20:02:50

MVM Polachery started giving admission forms from today. I have been there to see the school but got the admission form. It has to be submitted by 20th Nov and will have interview it seems.

The class rooms looks clean and organised but still the second floor construction to be completed. Ground is small for a school when it will fully functional with upper classes. But there are plenty of empty land surrounding the school.

They also informed that they offer Pre-KG as well but no information provided in the prospectus.

Radhika2207 2013-11-18 10:55:55

Thanks skneya for teh ibnfo. School had informed that they are issuing applications from November 20th.

skneya 2013-11-18 11:59:18

But they asked us to submit the form by 20th Nov and interview with the child on the same day?!

Radhika2207 2013-11-18 13:10:05

The person who picked the phone mentioned that the forms will be distributed for the week. I will be collecting the forms today evening. Would ask for info about this and let you know.

skneya 2013-11-18 14:43:24

Radhika2207 have you got any other reviews about the school apart from the ones shared here?

The school campus seems to be small and doubt if they can extend till XII. They have 4 sections LKG and UKG and the list of students pasted outside the class shows 40 students per section. Then in this case 160 students in LKG and when the kids move upwards they do need a huge space to accomodate this much crowd in upper classes.

Principal was not there when I had been there so didn't get a chance to meet him. If you have any friends and their wards are studuying there must have an idea about this. Pls share If you have any info on this..and reviews from your friends & relatives.

Radhika2207 2013-11-18 16:48:04

Hi skneya, I do not have any reviews apart from the ones I have shared here. Have got the admission form today and the interview is on Wednesday for my kid. I dod not personally go today to collect the forms. Wednesday I would find more details and inform.

skneya 2013-11-18 17:03:11

Hi Radhika2207, I will also be there with my child on wednesday for interview.

DRNOB30 2013-11-21 08:39:56

Hi all,

Do share your experiences @ the MVM school if you have attended the interview on wednesday please.  What's the crowd like? How is the reponse from other parents / school staff? ...................

Radhika2207 2013-11-21 10:47:40

Hi. My kid took the interview yesterday. and there was around 30 kids who came for LKG admission yesterday.. the office authorities were kind enough and so was the interviewing staffs. I spoke with parents who had come LKG admission with their first child already in this school and also from parents who came to pick their kids. One first thing I heard from all was the child development was satisfactory, though few parents said teachers are just getting settled down and surely way to go to achieve the Chetpet standard. I hope by June next year teachers would be stabilised. And portions are very heavy is another comment i heard from most of the parents. They insisted that it would not suit or working parents (this was said by parents who have their kid from 1st standard onward)..

School infra looked ok to me. the construction is going on.. Environment was calm and clean.. play ground was average size.. buses were in gud condition. School day and sports day are held(though it is not a primary concern, it obviously gives some sort of moments to cherish for kids).. I was said by primary students that students are sent across to Chetpet branch for participating in inter school competitions.Overall from the response I received, I rate it as 7/10 and I am trying this school for sure for LKG, provided my kid is in the selected list that they would publish on Dec 2.

Hi Radhika

Good to hear your review.  I have been looking forward to it.

Did you get to meet any parents from hr sec. classes?

Does the school follow all the progs. as per chetpet - eg. Kalavarshini, etc.  I heard from the Sriperumbadur branch that the kids from there are sent to chetpet regularly for all competitions.  Also that the correspondent / staff of chetpet visit regularly for various reasons.  Is that so at polachery too?

As you say, competitions / progs. are not that imp.  - however, it is another area of exposure / fun for the child.

Thanks again.

Radhika2207 2013-11-21 11:14:53

Yes. I met few parents of higher secondary as well. Heavy Portions were one thing they were insisting and they said school management also has improved this year than the previous year. Even I heard that kids are sent to Chetpet branch for competitions but I did not enquire about Chetpet's principal or staff visits to this branch. This did not strike me at all. have you got the admission forms? I think they are closing admissions by Friday and there was written test from 1st standard onwards.

subhavijayasri 2013-11-21 11:20:02

Great!  Radhika - thanks.

Yes - i hv got the forms thro my relative and will be there on friday.  Portions is no prob to me - or my kids - fun learning and concept understanding is my priority.

Do let me know any further news, reviews.

Radhika2207 2013-11-21 11:47:20

Sure. Would let you know updates as and when I get. You have dropped SSM plans?

subhavijayasri 2013-11-21 11:50:20

not really.  Am looking at options still.  Since it is hr classes & i can't change schools in later yrs, i am worried.  Any guidance would really help.

I had gone for LKG admission for my son yesterday. I was surprised to see positive responses from many parents for a school which is just 2 years old and still under construction. Yesterday was the 1st day of interview and they interviewed almost 25 kids(exclusive of higher classes).
The teachers who was in the interaction session spoke well to the kids(had good communication skills).

Currently there are 6 buses operating within 10-15 km. All the busses were full.
For all the KG kids, the questions were:

They see whether your kid can interact and understand. They will communicate the results through phone.

Overall, I personally had a good experience. For parents looking for KG and lower classes admissions, MVM is a good choice. Am sure this school will surely do well in the forthcoming years.

Krishna123 2013-11-21 13:56:18

@ Radhika, Along with application we need to submit anything like date of birth Xerox, photo?
What is the last date for application submission?

skneya 2013-11-21 14:03:35

@ Radhika, I heard that they do have pre-KG hence the LKG seat vacancy will be based on the availability.

Even I was there yesterday but couldn't get this info. Any idea about the total number of LKG seats? When I enquired earlier over the phone they said they have 4 sections in LKG and approximately 150 seats. If that is the case, the yesterday's crowd is just around 30 then obviously all the kids interviewed should be selected, but they said the results will be published on 2nd Dec! This seems to be contradicting with the number of LKG seats they have..bit confused. Do you have any idea?
