Can you pls tell me where will the school be located? The address you have mentioned is the Administrative office.

SaravananChennai 2012-03-05 12:04:22

Hi Gayatri / Siva

The address is,

St. John's Public School
Off Perumbakkam Main Road
Next to Isha Signature Villas
Medavakkam, Chennai

The distance from the Medavakkam office to the school is around 3 KMs. Its located on the way to Sholinganallur from Medavakkam. (Landmark: Backside to Perumbakkam Panchayat Office).. I went there yday just to check the distance from my home. The school is under construction. When I enquired there, they told that it will be completed by June month.

This is all marketing ideas to create demand and curiosity among parents to collect high fee from their hard earned money. It is old trick, first spread awareness of school, second provide date range of forms sold(incidentally the no. forms issued will be high than the actual accomodated number of students), but still good enough to create rush among parents. From where do they get teachers? Mars or venus? They are still most of them home makers, not so experienced. May be 15% to 20% of them could be good teachers but rest will be learners. Every parent want their child to be successfull. To achieve this, they spend their hard earned money without proper planning. We seldom learn. There is so much silver cloud over current educational system, we fail to identify the false promises within that cloud. Government is trying to control this high free structure but parents as a mass collapse that planning. Home environment is also equally important like school class for child success.

Hi Selvaraj,     Not for debate, but I would like to surface up some facts of school education regarding the 2 points you have written about. 1. The quality of teachers, 2. Paying high fees. Off course the teachers are not from Mars or Venus to do magic with our children. But the method of teaching and way of reaching children’s mind is something which many schools/teacher’s lack. For example ask a kid about solar system soon after a conventional classroom session, and after an explanation you give at home using models or multimedia. You will understand the difference.Teaching aids and interesting methods, make the child to enjoy learning and less time to record in mind. No frustration there on. So how many parents get time to teach their children using good examples, material and multimedia? If you are trying to do so, that’s a redundancy. What for the child sits the whole day in school if You can do that compressed 1 hour teaching every day. There are few schools like this which has good and proven method of education. They teach the teachers to teach. On the second point, just imagine your child sitting in a school which offers education for Rs 200/- per month. School doesn’t provide only the book learning. But also the learning form their classmates. I am sure your child’s bad word vocabulary  increases year by year :).What I mean to say is the classroom will not be healthy enough to intake the education. Also the expenses on aids like virtual classrooms is not just to show off. It matters a lot for today’s education in mid of so many diverting factors we live with. There were free schools which offered education to all just teaching by drawing in sand which worked good for those days where there was no distraction at all.But just imagine a school like that in today’s world of distraction and diversions! Hope we now appreciate the value of modern schools.

Hi Naveen,

I completely agree to your point in the way the teaching methodology has evolved over the period of time. There are definitely visible performance in today's children with current teaching methods. But among these good things, many schools are taking advantage of parent needs and charging high fees. What I mean is some big stomach is eating parents hard earned money more than they can eat/handle. Education is society responsibility and some selfish human beings had made this noble act as their commercial gain.

Bottomline. What we need is revamp in education system and awareness among parents not to fall for this greedy people.

Hi ,

I would like to bring to your notice one important point which many of us have missed here. For parents aspiring for LKG, they are planning to have school till 3:00 PM, of which classes will be till 12:20 followed by lunch, sleep time and refreshment.... if we wish we can take our kid away at 12:30 but buses will not be provided....

this is an important point we should think abt before finalizing adms....

i mean they should keep it as optional and run buses at 12:30 as well.....

even as per my understanding buses will start only by 4:00 when the entire school do confirm on this before enrolling

NaveenP 2012-03-06 16:03:22

There are some managements, working in such a way. Its true that not many parents could really evaluate the schools for what they pay and what they get.

SivaR 2012-03-06 23:50:16

Hi Naveen,

Do they provide virtual classroom for all classes? Any idea who they tieup with like Educomp / Tata interactive / ..?

NaveenP 2012-03-07 11:04:01

Hi Siva,

Good question. We need to know this from the school. Please post here if you get a chance to speak with SJPS.

rashabab 2012-03-07 19:43:43

Hi All- Can someone help me with a contact number to their Admin office , i am looking for a Pre-KG admission. Please help!

kakishore 2012-03-07 21:02:27

Hi All,

I got the letter for my daughter for UKG. Regarding the bus service I have checked with them, they said there will be bus service at 3 pm for UKG and I specially asked whether they are planning to club UKG student with higher class for bus service. They said they will not do that but still looks like we need to get more clarity before getting the admission.

Anni232 2012-03-07 21:10:04

Regarding bus service, there is a big doubt there is no bus at 12:30 for LKG and also, there are 3 batches dispersing at 3, 3:30 and 4:00, so most probably they cant have 3 bus shifts within 1/2 hr gap, that too they have promised transportation within 15 Kms.....

kakishore 2012-03-07 21:11:07

Numbers are 43564488 & 43574488

yugappa 2012-03-08 10:10:27

Received the provisional admission letter from SJPS yesterday (07th March) for Class 1.  Anyone received any such admission letter?

Can we get the 100% attention towards our wards when the infrastructure development is in full swing where the management need to pay full attention?

There is no doubt we can pull good teaching staff.  But will they take any settling time which will impact the growth of our child in the beginning-3years, the crucial period?

Any comments :)?

Hi all,

Is that all that we pay for one whole year apart from the transportation charges, including the extra curricular activities or would there be any extra charges apart from the prescribed fees??? Pls clairify....

rashabab 2012-03-21 13:30:17

I did complete the admission for prekg for my kid. Now, only wish all goes well. I doid enquire abt the fees in other schools, its almost same!!!!

ram01 2012-04-12 19:28:17

Hi all,

Gone through the above tread very convincing nice explanation why schools are squeezing the hard earned money from parents especially IT prof.  I just want to share something, after comparing the fees from schools in and around Chennai, the CBSE schools located around OMR are charging hefty fees and competing with each other to do same in yr-on-yr basis!  We, well educated even trapped into their business tactics crazy about the word global, universal, international …etc ofcourse worried about our kids education. It is as simple as that  paying one Lakh fee for a three years old and for three hours attention where there is no learning at all in that age is just going crazy. Some one in this blog telling  solar system example. Do you thing learning aid costs more. FYI, now a days even Rs 200/- fee schools are introduced Smart class from EDUCOMP. Unfortunately some one in this blog is differentiating kids paying fewer fees will get into bad habits and  bad language. I don’t agree with that. I heard knows from Blore, some kids from decent families and  are hardly turned 13 yrs are having every bad habit like smoking, drinking…etc who are also studying in so call reputed in terms of fee.Parents attention is very much important even you enrolled the kids in above crazy schools or in tiny schools. Coming to the SJPS, My kids studied in St john DR Rajkumar international school, Neelangarai (run by sibling of SJPS). We are not at all satisfied with our kids progress as well as school management. We need to follow up the class teacher, every day otherwise your kid is simply ignored. As we are Bus parent, we couldn't do so. There are management and parent meetings which are totally Stereo-type So I withdrew my kids. I hope it is not the case with this school.    I wish good luck to all the parents who joined this school !!!!

UmaArun 2012-04-16 14:10:28

Regarding Faculty recruitment this school is doing an excellent work!!!

They conduct written as well as oral test and also they are very much keen on communication skills. They also offer good pay to the faculties.Because, i am a part of sjps who will be handling the pre-primary kids.

Don't mention that from where do they get teachers...... There were nearly 350 people who applied for the job and only 40 people got the offer to work in the primary department.
