I attended interview for my twin sons today - 9.4.2012 and cleared the interview.
50 candidates from open category attended the interview all are from Adyar, Indiranagar, Besant Nagar & Tiruvainmiyur.
On query almost all parents informed me that they did not have any recommendations
Does anybody know when Sri Sankara, Adyar will give application forms for LKG 2013-2014?
what is the age critria for sankara school for lkg?
I think its 3+ by march 2013
Hope you have admitted your kid in Hindu, Can you pls let me know
@moorthy vidhya your comment about hindu is in a bad taste.
@moorthyvidhya , I agree that Sankara is a better school compared to Hindu. But in the other blog you have mentioned that you had admitted your kids in Hindu and only after getting a seat in Sankara you skipped the admission. You have one of the lucky parents to have your kids study in Sankara.
Each school has disadvantages.
Hindu is overcrowded and teachers not able to concentrate coz of the crowd. But they try to keep the kids occupied by worksheets , homework etc
Sankara , the school is small, cramped and the access is very poor. One parent of the kid in sankara mentioned that there is no homework, no pressure to study, no Qs asked if homework not done/or uniform not iorned properly. Less discipline. Small classes yes its really good, I dont know about the higher ones.
VM is hifi and not easy for middle class to get admission without recommendation.
PS Senior is purely academics and a brahmin school.
BVM not good and is going in money minded way. Group alloted in +1 based on the 10th marks. There are mixed reviews about the school
PSBB, also a brahmin school and many of the kids are not encouraged to participate in sports day/annual day etc. Teachers select whoever they are comfortable with.
St.Johns/St.Micheals - ppl have mixed reviews.
New schools, we parents have doubts about their capability.
NPS,, IPS,, CPS etc is good, but have to pay heavy fees every year. Not many can afford that.
St.Marks its a very good school. Didnt get any negative reviews, but only till 5th.
(All the above are got from parents studying in the respective school)
So what is the option?? There has to be compromise somewhere. We wanted our kid to study in VM -- mylapore. But unfortunately didnt get in VM, sankara - but got in Hindu.
Again what do you mean by a good school? Academics,co-curricular, getting ranks in 12th? Believe me you wont even remember what has been taught till your 8th std. You will only remember and apply what you have learned thru exp in your life. If the school is crowded, give attn. at home. If its academic send them to extra classes. If no disciple at school enforce at home. Of all these top schools I have mentioned only Hindu treats parents with respect and the staff is very co-operative. All the other
schools literally 'pushes you out by the neck'.
You will know the true colors of the school only if you/your kid directly get involved. Then you can judge whether it might suit you or not.
After all these above comments also i would say Sankara is better than Hindu.
VM, PS Senior, PSBB, St.Marks, Abacus, HLC, NPS, IPS, CPS better than Sankara.
Thanks everyone for taking the pain to read the above comment and correct me if wrong.
I agree with you. hindu is the best school. it is the only school giving good response and respect to the parents .
Every coin has both head and tail, the same way every school has both pros and cons.
It's we as a parent who have to decide where our kid has to study, only when u go inside u will know how the school is?
Iam happy if Hindu works out for u people,we will know after june?
but i heard from one of my friend that HLC is a good school.
I have spoken to many parents of Sankara and i would say Sankara is far better than Hindu.
Those who are selected for Sankara, kindly attend the interview don't miss the chance u have got :)
@moorthyvidhya, thanks for withdrawing the comment. Thousands of childrens are studying in the hindu. We must respect them. hope you will agree with that.
@preithig.. no school is perfect.. every school has some or the other negative in them, and most of the well known CBSE schools are taking huge donations which means they are after money. Its not just one school.
In the end, parents put their kids into schools which is suitable for them.
Further more, although we parents clamour to get our kids into the so called "good" schools, ultimately it is the kids personality and character that will determine how far he or she will progress in life. Marks alone don't matter... Parents, teachers, friends, relatives and social circles will determine whether or not the kid turns out to be a good person more than anything else.
HLC is a very good school . i believe they follow IGCSE syallabus. If ppl are willing to relocate to OMR its a good option
@queenoflove, will know about Hindu in April. The school opens april1st.
