 Dear Parents,

I'm new to this forum. My son is 2.6 years and i'm looking for a good school in and around Ashok Nagar. The problem is i have just shifted to this place and i'm unaware that the schools have already closed applications for 2012 admissions. Could anyone suggest me the way forward....

I wanted to give my child a quality education+good communication+extracurricular focus as well.

thanx

arun

arjunr & archana -  Many thanks for your reply...

I'm looking out for a CBSE school. Could you please enlighten me more about Shrine Velankanni.

Any idea about Chennai Public School Anna Nagar??

ArchanaJagan 2011-12-28 23:56:04

 Hi Arun,

Shrine Velankanni the housekeeping is not good...I had been to that school last yr to get an application form...but I did not like that school at the very look....

CPS wuld be too far from ur house ....and travelling thru thirumangalam roads & traffic will be very difficult for the child.... (My personal opinion)

For PreKG I think most of the schools hv completed application process.., pls verify...

Archana Jagan is right...prek application process more or less over in all schools...

try amrita vidyalayam in nesapakkam immediately... there is one more in choolaimedu LM Dadha Senior Secondary School. i think they give appls in jan end...

 Hi Both,

It's so kind of you to reply. Yes i have contacted couple of schools this morning and they all have closed the applications. They wanted me to contact them after Jan 15th.

Is it ok to put my child in any Montessori or Play school for time being and then seek out for LKG admission the next year?? If yes, please suggest me some good Montessori & Play schools around ashok nagar, t.nagar, vadapalani......

Your comments on Calibre Foundation also welcome.

thanx

 hi Arun,

SEED is an amazing playschool.

from what i know from parentree reviews, calibre foundation doesnt have a good review...

ArchanaJagan 2011-12-29 12:05:39

There's a road next to Ashok Nagar pazhamudir cholai..in that road take 1st left (you can see the name board at the street enterance)... I paid around 27k for play school

I've heard Kanchana paati is a bit expensive (take a look anyways)

geetharama 2011-12-29 14:07:59

Kanchana Paati will suit better for Parents who opt for Day car. They take care of providing food to the children(Parents need not send them). Else it is more or less like any other play schools.(with the kind of activities tat they have for playgroup/preschool).

 Hi Mrs. Archana,

Wish you & your family a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

In the past one week i went and checked couple of Preschool's around ashok nagar, k.k. nagar and honestly not feeling good. Today i went to SEED ashok nagar, they told me to come around 5pm .

I think i will freeze with this today if things are ok. Before i could go ahead i want you to give me some more information about SEED as you have put your child there. I'm gona put him on Pre Kg starting June'12

1. How is your child doing after going to SEED?

2. How are the teachers?

3. Are they giving importance to communication (English)?

4. What are the extra curricular activites they do?

Any other information which would help me to decide.

I hope you will reply asap. I'm keen to get this update because i'm going to start his education from a pre-school & not a big setup school.

Thanks for your support in advance

regards,

arun

Hi Arun

Thanks & Wish you too a prosperous New Year.

My daughter went to seed for play school only & not for Pre KG...

You have friendly teachers and they give you constant feedback of the child, you can also talk to them in person...

Teachers talk in both in English & Tamil to children so that they are able to correlate English meaning...

They have a small sandpit & swimming pool.. They have theme based education..they also putup the syllabus each month in notice board. They have celebrations for functions (like children's day, diwali, pongal etc). They have some field trips also (around 4-5)

They gave me a very detailed report on each & every activity of the child at the end of the year...

The only drawback I saw was the space...felt it was cramped....

Otherwise everything else is fine abt the school

Let me know if u need any more info

 Hi Mrs. Archana,

Many thanks for your detailed response. I went to SEED around 6pm with my wife & kid, met Miss. Thulasi she is really very kind and have given a detailed brief about the school, the curriculum & the activities. She took us to the different rooms of study and explained about the methods of learning. I found it interesting however as you said i also felt that the place is cramped.

She said the fees is 3k registration+9k X 3 terms and the same would increase this year.

I don't think the methodology they follow is montessori and the teachers are not graduated either for kinder garden/montessori/ nursery. Which is making me think otherwise. Your comments on this would be appreciated.

rgds,

Arun

Hi Arun

I'm not sure which teacher you met...coz I guess usually there won't be any teachers around the time u went...As far as I've seen the teachers are educated and seemed like they had been trained to handle nursery kids...
