hi in case you are looking to keep your child till 10th in sophia, please think twice. it is a very casual school with kids learning no values. it is tolerable till 5th but later the academic part just falters. there is no seriousness about studies at all and in 10th, the school involves girls in ridiculous events. please think twice
Hi Nicky , can you elaborate please ? What ridiculous events ? Why you tell kids learning no values ( comparison with other schools )
This was a great school years ago, absolutely no second thoughts there, but probably need to change with times and
get more progressive in terms of todays needs. This is probably true with most "old schools" in Bangalore today.
You can only get as much from discussions forums here. Talk to current parents, look at ICSE results over a period of
time (they are available online) and take a call. I guess end of the day what matters is the quality of education, distance,
and decent exposure to sports and extra-curricular, in that order IMO. One should be truly lucky to find everything in one
school. There are always trade offs and pros and cons.
Hi , the school is good until standard 4th where no pressure is put on kids and they are relaxed. but as it goes higher,there is absolute lack of discipline in kids in terms of overall grooming of girls. The children are too many around 60 in one class with only one teacher to monitor. They are not bothered about how the children are performing. In higher classes no importance is given to academics and the school engages the children in events such as principle day where they have to bunk classes and go for practice sessions. My daughter is in 10th and the school had sports event for which they cancelled the unit test for 10th. and entire august september they were busy in practising for sports day . All this does not allow the student to get into serious mode and they continue to have casual attitude which I am bearing the brunt of. The school was popular a decade ago but now its still basking in its old glory
If you do not want your child to be academically oriented and are okay with the child having more westernised outlook, you can go for it
@soccerfan- Out of curiosity - which school have you enrolled your child ?
@soccerfan , @Nickey11 , thanks for your inputs .
We received the letter with offer of Admission on March 12th. We have been asked to arrive at the school at 8 AM on April 7th along with documents, demand draft etc. However, given the current lock down situation, I had written to the School regarding alternate plans but haven't heard back.
As expected, none of my phone calls have been answered and we haven't received any information via regular email either.
Wanted to check if anyone has received any information regarding potential change in admission timelines in view of the ongoing restrictions on non-essential social gatherings.
Yes, same here..One new update is that we just got sms from school saying admissions are postponed till further notice cz of covid. They have not given any new date.
Thanks for posting. We also received the SMS yesterday indicating that the admission event has been postponed and the new date will be intimated later.
