Thanks @newkid.
Just curious about admission about NPS Koramangala alone.  Any idea if the admission for Montessori 1 is closed ?   Any hopes pending/or worth waiting.

newkid 2019-11-18 13:40:25

When i called the school last week, they said its closed. Sorry.

On what basis they are shortlisting??

Goindia 2019-11-20 10:32:39

Based on the findings it€™s basically because of
  • The first priority is for eligible siblings.
  • The second priority is for children of our teachers and other staff members.
  • Priority for admission is also listed for alumni of NPS group of schools.
  • The next preference is for nationally mobile group including central services & other transferable services of India.
  • The next priority is for the general category.
Getting into NPS is pure luck as they give preference to central govt parents where more transfers happens which leads to donations.

For general categories if admitted it€™s just the one time donations and they are sure students remain till Class x.  It€™s pure business which leads to more revenue.  And hence they prefer not to give more Quota to general categories.

Hope this helps. Even I had applied but was sure that 99.9 % it won€™t come my way. It was just a try and time to move on . Remember we have far better schools then NPS in Bangalore.

Cheers

@Goindia I am not sure where you get this information. More transfers equals more donation? How does that even compute!  I am a current parent and it's not that classes are filled with students whose parents are moving around all over the country. Having said that I absolutely agree to the fact that it's hard to get shortlisted.

hi @soccerfan, can i connect with you. have some specific questions related to NPS, can you share your gmail id.

soccerfan 2019-11-20 13:04:05

@mithun12 feel free to direct message me here. there is some way to do that.

newkid 2019-11-20 15:23:06

@soccerfan- Which NPS are your children studying ? Which branch and which class ? Did you also get a call for the academic year 2020-21 ?

How is it going at nps whitefield? i havent heard a single case wherein kid who had interaction in oct 2019 was offered admission for ukg, do they usually have waitlist converts to admission offers?

Somaiah 2019-11-21 10:05:45

I agree getting an admission is a matter of pure luck. This year i am seeing that more ppl in the "general category" (the last priority as per their list) are getting more calls.

I got a call from NPS RNR and also know someone who got a call from NPS HSR. Both of us did not tick any category that the website listed.

Goindia 2019-11-21 13:03:38

@soccerfan

Well it was one just point with basic assumptions

I agree not all move over the country. I stay near to the NPS Koramangala school and met many parents who stay closer to my place. My findings were based on experiences heard .

Please note  my 4th point is just one criteria among others shared . For all nationally mobile group including central services and other transferable services , it€™s money making business in all schools and not just NPS. Since NPS branches  are available in most parts of India and also across countries. They have strong reason to utilise this facility with brand name. With out money and flexibility no one does business. Hope I cleared the point

soccerfan 2019-11-21 14:18:53

Goindia NPS has branches in Bangalore, Mysore and Singapore. Not all over the country/countries.

Goindia 2019-11-21 19:19:44

Yes NPS has in Bangalore, Mysore,Singapore and Chennai too. Having said I should have used country instead of countries Ÿ˜Š Good luck

Hi @chetubc
Firstly congrats as getting shortlisted in NPS Isb great thing.  Very few get the opportunity.
Ofcourse it€™s nice school.  However it€™s better you visit once and enquire all facilities. If you stay near Hosur , then go for it.

Chetubc 2019-11-27 22:56:40

Thanks Goindia.
My concern was about the franchisee thing. I read in some other discussion in this site that the core team may not be involved much with these NPS schools, is it true. I also noticed in this site that much of the discussions are around the core old NPS but nothing on any other NPSs like this one or near arekere one etc.. So, I want to know does that impact a lot being a franchise NPS. I even read a comment from one parent that even they got call from one of the non core NPS school they were waiting to hear from core NPS branches. again, I am not at all clear about this core/noncore franchise NPSs. if any one pour some light on this also I will be glad.

Goindia 2019-11-28 09:58:35

Well NPS core and franchise are debatable issue and school authorities do not openly admit they own franchise until we dig them to know the truth.

However you can observe that core NPS schools details in below link.

http://www.npsinr.com/associate_schools.html

Points to be noted

  1. Chairman remains same for all NPS schools
  2. Auditing ,funding , marketing will be supported by core but management will be different in franchise . Franchise can spend more money if they make profit
  3. Quality of education and long term run will have more weightage on Core teams than Franchise
  4. All Franchises are money making machines/business  in the name of brand product.
  5. In Bangalore location school plays major role for parents . Sending kids with radius <4/5 km is preferable and hence franchise wise location plays great role.
  6. What I don€™t like about NPS is the admission process ..as they are not transparent . I got to know that approx 4000 applications were received and they charge 400 each which makes 16lakhs and many parents submitted to 2schools making it 32 lakhs . So they have money it€™s just parents have to question the authorities and their intent. Not just NPS , it€™s for all schools in INDIA

Lastly do not rely completely on comments posted as they can sometimes confuse.  Instead I would advice

A) do the background check of NPS

B) Meet 5 parents of same school and interact to know the +ve and -ve aspects of school.

C) Ask students of junior/senior grade school about their experiences in school.

D) Basically you aggregate all the points and conclude how the school look after 12-14 years from 2019. If you think 90%confident go for NPS .After all its your child€™s future

In short - NPS core school have everlasting future , franchisees are tricky.

I just realised that I wrote big reply. Next time I will be have short reply.  Hope this helped.

@GoIndia...thats a great writeup which should help a lot of parents

raggy 2019-11-28 12:50:45

@GoIndia and by the way in that 32 Lakhs my contribution is 400 Rup :-)

Chetubc 2019-11-28 14:32:03

@Goindia, - no- it was an informative piece of message I liked it. I expect deviation from core NPS for obvious reasons, but to what extent is another thing. I am just wondering if it will be work just blindly going behind NPS name on a brand new school against already proven some other school at my locality. Anyways, I can't think of any other school than NPS from the day I got call from them. that's different story.
Anyways thanks for taking pain in responding GoIndia, really appreciate it. would like to ask everyone what they think, going for NPS name sake is better or not.

Goindia 2019-11-28 15:06:05

Thank you @chetubc for kind words. Cheers
