I got the letter yesterday. And my daughter got selected...

what are you ppl planning for transportation. I see there is no parking at all there and we got to go inside and leave the kid? and are the private vans reliable cos nursery kids are too small to be sent in van. how r u ppl gonna manage?

ImJay 2017-03-27 09:04:17

@aarika, it looks like the transportation appears challenging. I might locate close to school somewhere around Vasanth Nagar or NehruNagar/Seshadri puram. Please suggest me near by residential colonies. Thanks.

aarika 2017-03-27 10:58:59

oh ok. the places u mentioned are the closest to school . but even then either dropping kids in bike or putting them in a van are the two best options I suppose. cos for car I find no parking there.

Has any whatsapp group been formed for this year's admits into Sophia's?
I believe last year they created a group Saphires2016 by parents who got admission for their child.

I would like to know if anyone is available from Jakkur (GKVK ) to share  transportation.

Hi.. we are planning to relocate to bangalore from Pune soon.. will they accept mid-term admission here? My daughter will be going to UKG.. What are the fees like? Any information would be very helpful..

Hello Navein,

Does address where the child currently resides matters/criteria for selection?

mjr17 2019-01-08 13:25:48

Hey  ImJay, am also curious about the transportation to the school and I stay in Vijayanagar. Did you relocate anywhere near to school? If so can you please suggest what are the options for the near by residential areas to shift the house?

Ishi2012 2019-01-08 16:44:44

@shar82, selection criteria does not depend on the distance. My daughter is selected in year 2016 for nursery and our house is almost 12 km far. It is based on the kids performance equally. you can ready my earlier post, where i have posted the interview questions asked to my daughters.

@mjr17, i relocated to Vasanth Nagar. Its bit expensive and difficult to find a reasonable apartment. Im planning to move some where close to Seshadripuram or Guttahalli as a next move in an year.

Hey ImJay, thanks a lot for the quick response. I just want to know your feedback on the below:

  • I have seen some of the reviews saying nowadays Sophia school education quality has reduced due to several factors like teaching staff, busy with other activities like concerts, events etc. any thoughts on this?
  • Do kids need to carry their books everyday? Is their any facility in the school to keep their books in the class room?
  • How are you managing the commute from school to home for your kid?
  • What will be fee structure from second year onwards? I have heard for first year it will be around 1lakh
  • Do they allow nursery admission for 2.8 year for June 2019?
As a parent of nursery admission do we need to know anything specific about the school?

  • I have seen some of the reviews saying nowadays Sophia school education quality has reduced due to several factors like teaching staff, busy with other activities like concerts, events etc. any thoughts on this?
  • [Ishi2012]: Teaching quality is good as compared to other CBD schools. But if you count 10th board results then in last 3 years i have not seen any one in top 10.
  • Do kids need to carry their books everyday? Is their any facility in the school to keep their books in the class room?
  • [Ishi2012]: No need to carry books, teachers keep the books in class room. Only 2/3 days kids get home work.
  • How are you managing the commute from school to home for your kid?
  • [Ishi2012]: From 1st std, you will get school bus facility, but below 1st std kids, you have to manage with private cabs.
  • What will be fee structure from second year onward? I have heard for first year it will be around 1lakh
  • [Ishi2012]: From 2nd year onward, fee would be 50K
  • Do they allow nursery admission for 2.8 year for June 2019?
  • [Ishi2012]: Min age is 3 years on 1st Jun, i guess. Please check the notification.

My daughter is studying in Junior 1 now. I personally found the teaching methodology excellent. They do not encourage simply mugging. They evaluate the children based on their listening, understanding & interpreting skills. The teachers keep all their books in the class. They have to carry only their snack basket everyday. The kids get homework only on Friday & Monday. They have activities like sports & cultural day once a year. I think that is also a part of today's education system. We have to think of overall development of the kid in all aspects.
