My daughter's interview is scheduled on 12th Nov too! Hope to see you there.

Hi Anand,

Can you give give us feedback pros and cons between Montessori and Nursery in Vagdevi. We are bit confused in choosing either of them because of mixed feedback from the parents of existing kids in Montessori and Nursery.

Hi , My Daughter has been selected for LKG on 26th Nov. Need to pay fees in 1 week. Just want to know if it is a good school as I heard there are 14 Sections alone for LKG with 32 students in each section. Will it not be too crowded. Will the Teachers be able to focus on each childs growth. Please help if anyone has any feedback. It is for my Childs future.

 Former member 2011-11-28 11:18:52

yes there are more than 10 sections in lkg.but each class strength will be 30-35. and they have 2 teachers. so the span is 1 teacher to 15 kids,.we did not face any issues becos of high strength so far .they have freq parent teacher mtg, also u can meet up/call talk to teachers if need be.

That is the norm in all schools. even vibgyor, ryan ,gurukul all schools hv more than 10 sections.

Monirul 2011-11-29 07:13:23

Thanks Easy, Your comments helped me. I have also heard that in Vagdevi teachers and assistants do no focus much on English and Childrens are Motivated to Speak in Kannada, which is unlike with Gurukul abd Vibgyor. Can you please clarify on this as many people in my apartment has stressed on this Kannada Factor of this school.

 Former member 2011-11-29 13:30:32

That is a funny one. Teachers speak in english only. Ofcourse dont expect a foreign accent as spoken in highend schools etc, they talk normal southindian english.

frankly english shd not be the only criteria for selectng schools..as most of us stay in aptmts..which has a cosmopolitan outlook..children anyway pickup the language. We never speak english at home..but my son is very comfy and fluent now..thanks to his mallu, bengali and northindian neighbours.

Majority of the kids in son's class are northindians or telugu..so talking in kannada does not arise. also in ukg when they split sections.. i guess 10 sections for second language hindi , only 2 sections for second lang kannada.

Thanks Easy. Your comments and feedback really helped. I have made up my mind  to go with VVS. Which class ur child is studying and whr r u put up?

 Former member 2011-11-30 13:01:18

my son is in ukg. I stay in kundalahalli near purva aptmts

Hi all,

My son is in mont1 (environment 1).. which section your all kids are??

we can share the happenings here and keep all of us update..

ETCG 2012-07-24 17:18:36

My child studies in LKG. for some time now she is refusing to go to school. She never gave any trouble when school started.

i want to know if there is any other child who has suddenly started refusing to go to school. did your child give any reason?

 Former member 2012-07-25 10:49:57

hi ETCG,

sorry to hear abt ur daughter. How is she going to school. check if any one is troubling her in the bus or in the class. generally in classes there are kids which are naughty and tend to disturb and hurt others. once another student beat/hurt my son in the bus i complained to the teacher they took imm. action ;-) that is both of them were made to sit in diff. seats etc.

also ur kid has just come to lkg..may be the environment is new to her from nursery /play school .so check out if she is missing her old school/environment.

Also not but least pl check if the teacher told her something. nowadays the kids are too sensitive ;-)

Good to see so many responses to the thread I started last year... I had been offline for few months...

Our Son is in Mont-1 - E7... He loves going to school... mostly because he was so bored staying at home, playing with his parents all the time. He goes by school van..

Everyday we ask him what he did at school... he always says "I said yes mam"...:-)

He seems to trying few rhymes..

We had our first PTM few weeks back... We were asked to focus more on his communication skills.. Teachers don't expect him to speak in English... they want him to express fluently atleast in mother toungue... they are finding it hard to understand what he says..

Our son has difficulties in pronouncing certain words / letters.. He merges 2-3 words together and makes a new word out of it.. We are trying hard to make him pronounce words with clarity with very little progress..

Since he started going to school, I find him to behave differently - he has become more adamant, ofte raising voice, trying to beat, intentionally  not listening etc..

He doesn't want to share with neighbor kids...He tries to get all the attention in the middle of fellow kids...

I personally started restraining myself not to shout at him / beat him these days - I don't want to set a bad example by myself. Inspite of all that, I see little improvement.

Any other parent faced /  facing similar problem ?...  Any suggestions ?.

are you talking 2 diff languages at home?. so normally when kids are exposed to too many languages they wold have some confusion. so try and stick to one language. practice show and tell at home..like small story etc. give him time to get pronounciation right. btw..how old is ur son

AnandKV 2012-08-05 23:25:42

Thanks for the reply... Our Son completed 3 years just last week...

At home, We mostly speak in Tamil... at times, I talk to him in very simple

English - similar to what he was exposed to via Pogo Channel...

When we talk to him, he understands both languages very well.  Most of the times,

he doesn't care much, to listen and repeat the words we use...  Two months back, I even cancelled subscription to Kids package in order to divert him from watching TV..

Want to give my two cents as the Topic of "English" is brought here now. My Son was selected in this school two years before. We dint want to go with the school for few reasons which has been already discussed in other Threads(Dont want to discuss it again),but one important point that i want to bring in here in the Quality of English and Pronounciation used by the Teachers. Me and my Spouse were taken aback by the way the Montessori Teachers spoke.

For example during the Interview the Teacher mentioned to my Son " Where is the Busuuuuu"?. You are doing  "Gooduuu". There were few more wrong Pronounciations which the Teacher made(I dont rememebr them now). My Son was 2.5 Years then. He used to speak the Mother Tongue very Fluently and English also to some extent. After the interaction with the Teacher he mentioned "Busuu" instead of "Bus" and "Catuuu" instead of "Cat". Me and my Spouse were alarmed at the wrong  Impact the Teacher has made  within a short Interaction. We firmly decided not to go for the school . I do not want my Son to speak with Fake international accent. All i want him to speak with Proper English Accent and NOT Kanglish accent.

narayanasamiv 2012-08-08 12:01:39

Yeah, speaking good English is an important one.  But, judging one school only based on that, may not be correct.

 Former member 2012-08-08 12:42:38

Cuty Sweety,

Even Abdul Kalam speaks "Thanglish" in your language.. .Does that anyway make him less intelligent?

cutysweety 2012-08-09 10:37:13

I never said that I rejected the school ONLY FOT THAT reason...This shows how much you have understood my POst.It was one of the reason. There were few other Major reasons (Which i do not want to do a Post Mortem now).

I seriously dont understand whats the relation between speaking English and the Intelligence. "English" is just a Language. Teachers being a Role Model have to teach right things in a right way to the Students. I just mentioned that the Teachers who Interviewed couldnt speak English the way it is supposed to be. Did i ever mention that they were "Dumb" or "Stupid"????This shows how much you misinterpret things....

 Former member 2012-08-09 13:24:47

Sorry got distracted in the thread.

Your kid is only 3 years so you can give him some more time for his speech to develop. does he have friends at home?generally their vocab increases when they interact a lot. My son's language and vocab increased tremendously after i admitted him in playschool.

I just hope his other milestones are ok?

. Otherwise you can take him to speech assessors.

 Hi Anand,

My son who would turn 3.7 in June 2013 has been offered adm in Vagdevi Vilas school for LKG. [2013 - 2014]..

Please help me in deciding..

Jagank 2012-10-26 10:59:54
