Hi.. Sorry fr late response. My kid ws not well and was behind him. Yes creative smile is a good setup. The setup wch I tuk my son was a very small one, what attracted me was that they dnt take many kids, we can be sure that our child will get individual attention. All parents may not lik that as many will be hoping their kid to go to a bigger setup. And upon experience comdeall and spastics are not upto the mark. I got service from students who were asking me what can be done, so personally I wasn't happy. Octave too is a good setup fr individual sessions. And wherever u take ur kid, ultimately all depends on how we work with him/ her.

Hi ,

I have started going to Spastic. just 2 days. They have 5 week parental training program and in this program they have around 5-6 kids.
This is 5 days a week program and 2 hours daily.

with 2 days experience it is difficult to comment but as of now this looks OK.

Hi mitaali, actually now our situation is same as you told. Our child have the same problem, as you mentioned, and Nimhans said it is mild. We also went to BMI and Octave, but couldn't decide which one is better. Though you have much experience than us, so pls suggest. Hope your son are doing well now!

Madhumita ....with whatever exp I got after getting into this situation is , professionals can guide you , but real work happens at home , attimes with results better than what a therapist can deliver.
How old is ur kiddo currently and is he into any therapy yet ?
BMI is for one on one ABA therapy , however be well informed that therapist who would be working regularly  with your kid may not be certfied but would be working under a certified and experienced professional (they would anyways might have told you about the strategy there , guess they are quite open about it ) . ABA as such has helped me a lot (am not good at it , but whatever little knowledge i have ,its helping me and him to progress)  .I dont have first hand experience with BMI for my kid , but I have undergone workshops , trainings by them and folks there who trained us are really excellent in their job .But as I mentioned I hvnt enrolled my son there , but yes am not even hesitant in putting him there for an hour or so , if their prgrams allows .
Since i wanted to get him to schol env from this year and BMI programs are 3-5 hrs long , hence could not choose bmi
Octave I hv attended , and was benefitted as well , there are pros and cons again , however a  word of caution again , before you enrol there , check if staffing is adequate .  if u r enrolling for commdeall, If possible choose hrbr layout center.
Other place i am really impressed is Magpie (by Namrata pai) its only for speech though, they follow hannen programme.
There are other centers like Hope in koramangla, samvaad at hrbr, etc where I have heard of gud reviews but no first hand exp.
Hope this helps, else u can msg me and we can talk over phone as well.

Hi mitaali ,
How is it ABA training coming along? Wanted ur feedback as I am interested in taking parent training in BMI myself .What is the duration and cost of the parent training?

madhumitaom 2015-10-05 09:30:14

Hi mitaali can you send your ph. No. to my mail id madhumita.bhp@gmail.com?

mitaali 2015-10-05 12:39:54

Hi jjb27 , I had earlier attended parent workshop at BMI , last year in nov ..for approx 3 months ,classes on saturdays for 3-4 hrs.
Extremely helpful since they were more oriented on practical aspects of it ....fees was 10k at that time.
Encouraged by the results , I enrolled for the BCBA course as well , which indeed an excellent course but at the sametime requires additional time , its like any post graduate course , though classes on weekends , but field work, project work has to be continued on ur own ..... and yes its quite expensive too and crossing the certification milestone is not an easy game , no wonder why we dont have many certified folks in india ....
My experience says , concept of ABA are not difficult (but require guidance and practice initially) , if parent learns it ....u can apply throughout the day ....

Hello All,
I am a desparate parent looking to help my 2 years old son. We recently got him diagnosed for ASD, we are presently taking him to SAMVAAD. I heard about stepping stone(Svetlana Iyer). Any idea about Stepping Stone. I searched in google, but no information present about their therapy and intervention program reviews. I live near marathahalli, could anyone of suggest the better place for my kid? Thank you.

meena123 2016-01-19 00:17:07

Stepping stones was good when they started but now it's reviews are not that good. There is another  ABA Center "BE CHANGE" in Marathahalli, which is a good one. You can Enquire there also. I encourage you to join the whatsapp group for bangalore parents wherein you'll get lots of inputs.

Dear all,
I am in Bangalore and exploring some treatment options for my three and half year old daughter.. I came to know about Dr Nandini Mundkur floortime therapy in sahakar nagar called centre for child development and disabilities. Does anybody have any feedback on it?
Thanks,
Sandhya

jamni 2016-05-06 02:10:57

Hi Sandya

we just met dr. Nandini today in ccdd for assessment of 3 yr old. She did talk about her floor time at Sahakaranagar.  she was suggesting some 14 hrs per week session for my kid. However we are waiting for the assessment results next week and decide based on that. Personally I feel that she and her team could be more friendly to kiddo and more importantly communicating to parents with bit more empathy. apparently she has lots of experience in this field. So I am also looking for others inputs before enrolling.
