Honestly I thought it'll get better once we came to India, but I couldn't see significant improvement. She has been going to speech and occupational therapies here and I can see few improvements but I am worried about her education and schooling here since no normal schools will take her in.

Hi All,

I am currently living in CT  state and planning to move to NC and my kid has also same problem.

Trying to understand warmer weather help will help more. If its also not working out , may need to think about moving back to India with no relatives in USA.

Any advice on how North Carolina system will handle special kids. Google searches not rating NC as a better state than CT , But in CT state, not able to socialize for the kids much during 6 month winter time.

Any Info is appreciated.TIA

Hi Everyone,

I live in Detroit - Michigan, US. I have a 19 months old son, we were noticing some ASD red flags like poor eye contact, not pointing at things, not responding to name, etc.. from the past few months. Recently, we have consulted a neurological pediatrician referred by our primary pediatrician, they have confirmed it is ASD and want us to get it evaluated in order to comply with the Michigan state rules for the ABA to be covered by the insurance. The current wait time for the Autism evaluation is more than 6-8 months and an ABA appointment might also have some delay after the evaluation. We are expecting a delay of at least 8-12 months to start the ABA. We are trying to improve him as much as possible at home and wanted to provide him with some professional help possible without any delays.

I'm currently doing some research on the Michigan state policies if they have any programs for preschool 2+ years kids with ASD and also a good ABA or any other professional help(maybe a private school) for his age.  Please advise if anyone has any information.
Being first-time parents we do not have much understanding of the schooling system in Michigan yet. I and my wife want to talk to anyone from Michigan/USA who has raised/are raising a kid with ASD in this forum, can you please inbox me your phone number if anyone can spare a few minutes for a call.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
