Hi, can we give idly ,dosa to the child who is on spectrum .

mum2utir 2013-06-20 14:34:36

Ridas - Idlies and dosas are excellent GFCF foods.. if you can make them with brown rice, even better. Wish mine ate them

You can then start adding pureed vegetables to the batter and make it high in protein

Ridas 2013-06-20 15:44:31

But  I read that it was fermented by yeast which is not good for kids,I want to know whether it is a live probiotic yeast in the fermentation process .i really don't know all are suggesting to give Ragi dosa but my baby didn't like the taste .

zumbaleena 2013-06-20 15:50:56

the yeast used in idlis and dosas is ok to use....go for it

shayami 2013-06-20 17:31:33

i also follow cfgf  diet for my son...but when ever i gave him home made

idli aur dosai...his hyeractivity increased...i give him kichdi. dal chawal.

moong dal dosai, flour with mixing of soya, jawar, bajra and rice. he loves milk and my doc

told me about soya milk...Godrej company's natural soya milk..and soya paneer too.

so i  got good option of dairy product...and plzz dont give ur child sugar at all.

shayami 2013-06-20 17:41:16

Hi all, I am new to this group. Below are some queries regarding the gfcf diet.i have searched many websites but not able to get the desired results. 1) can soy/coconut or badam milk be replaced with regular milk.if yes can you share the recipee of how to make these at home. Do I need to give same type of milk everyday or all 3 can be given. 2) can we use white sugar. If not what are the substitutes. 3) are all dals and types of rice gluten free. 4) dalia and suji are gluten free? 5)fresh fruit juices can be given in the diet? 6) milk is the greatest source of calcium and in gfcf diet milk and all dairy products are removed. I dont want to use supplements as of now so can u guys pls suggest the substitute of calcium we can find in other products. Sorry for the lengthy post.

1) No to soy, but you can use coconut and badam milk
2) NO to sugar, you can use stevia as substitute but use carefully
3) Yes dal and rice are glutenfree
4) Dhalia and suji are gluten free, but they same mechinery for all, gluten contamination will be there.. so use only glutenfree labelled ones.
5) Yes you can fresh fruit juice without sugars
6) You can calcium syrups (Calcium carbonate or calcium citrate) you can supplement that.

I heard cooking with coconut oil is beneficial for Autistic kids. I bought Virgin Coconut oil <cold pressed> (brand: L'oil).

Can we use it for cooking purpose to feed my autistic son (2.3yrs) ?

Hi all,

can I use zero G maida product for baking? Has anyone been trying that...plz lemme know

maggieaggie 2014-11-19 12:39:18

Hi, thank you for advice. I have read that goat milk is suitable for ads kids, as there is not a1 peptide which is in cows milk. I  give my son 2 spoons of raw organic coconut oil, it proves good for ads kids. I also make sure that he is taking omega 3 and omega 6 fish oil . Have you heard about flaxseed oil? It's reach with omega 3 and 6 oil, it must be organic and I saw on net that is widely available in India.

maggieaggie 2014-11-19 12:44:46

There here are lots of info about coconut oil and autism on net
