Hi group members,

I now start realizing how difficult it is actually to accept autism problem for one's child. Myself & my wife are working in MNC's at Gurgaon & now swallowing this truth for our 3 year old son.

We diagonose the problem first when he was 2 Year old on account of hyperactivity, less eye contact & speech issues. He also have seviere immune system issue as too much vulnerable to cough & cold. This year even we have to use nebulizer for sucking out the cough and lot of antibiotics (Still persistent this problem).

We consulted to speech therapist & conducted his Bara Test which was found normal. After that we start his speech therapy when He was 2 & 1/2 year old & further consulted to child phycologist & start his Occupational therapy.

After OT his eye contact improved & their is a reduction in his restlessness but before last month we were not clear about his exact problem. After taking ATEC test (Available on Autism.com) & studing on Net a lot we undertsand that he have moderate level Autism (Based on his Score in test).

I have taken certain measures after that:

1) Stop his school (Earlier he was going to Mother's Pride) as he got sufficient time at school to come in it's own shell & start his ABA therapy in morning instead.

2) Conducted his IQ test with one child phychologist.

3) Consulted Child Neurologist ( He gave clean chit from his side).

4) continue his 2 hrs OT & Speech 6 day a week in addition to ABA.

5) Consult Homepathic Doctor Sharma (AT Chandigarh) & start medicines.

6) My wife is taking leaves (may further sacrifice her career).

In addition to that i feel that probably Gluten free diet may further help in his improvement. I have studied a conversation on Jyoti & NJ in 2011 on that in this phorum.

Can someone suggest me some good Diatecian for that cause at Gurgaon as well as some other measures I may take to improve my child.

I have already used Hydrotherapy, White Board, Play Ball , cycle for him.

I am not aware of anything in Gurgaon but Since you mentioned your child has immune system issues, he will definitely be benefitted by Gluten free casien free diet, For us removing milk and milk products played a major role in my son's immune issues. As you said the discussion in the GFCF forum can get you started.

@raj, i have posted about biomedical treatment centre in my discussion, it will help your child a lot as delhi is very near to gudgaon,

i had also taken dr sharma (homeodoc) chandigarh's medicines for my daughter, they did more harm then any good, her symptoms worsened so i completely stopped them.

i think O.T, lot of outdoor activity will help in the beginning..

dont know about  homeopath medicines, its always a mixed opinion.

u r right -not reqd to be serious abt schooling now

hI RJ & Lita. I have gone through the Biomedical treatment & other treatment post.

I understand that in addition to what Myself with my wife is doing currently, we must try to Biomedical treatment & Therapeutic Listening.

I was aware about Dr. Deepak Gupta, however I have some feedback about him that his centre was very much commercialized.Still I will consult him now.

Is their any good therapeutic centre in Delhi/NCR. Kindly confirm

Hi Raj,

Don't go for Therapeutic Listening therapies immediately, Start slow, the other manual therapies, outdoor activities works well and you may find gain with that itself. Start the diet and monitor if you can see any difference, Once you start the diet give time for other therapies as the kid may be going through a lot, it is difficult to give up on some of the favorite foods. If you do everything at the same time it will be difficult to figure out what is working and what is not. So work 1 step at a time.

ok. thanks for the suggestion. I will focus now on diet part.my wife today purchased some glutin free diet. She is also trying inclusion of Coconut oil/rice oil in my son diet.

We think to add the diet slowly as probably immediate changeover will be difficult for my son to adopt.

raj0072000in 2012-10-01 22:18:00

We have purchased rice milk, coconut milk & some glutine free products like biscuits, pasta, macroni, aata etc.

We have stopped my son's dairy milk completely from last 2 days & enforcing him for rice milk. We have also added some badam milk along with rice milk.Initially He was very resistent but now he has started taking it.

Today we have also purchased Dairy free Soya milk pack from La Marche. Can some tell is that also casein free. Should we try this diet change own our own or we require consultation.

We have already taken appointment of Child Phychatrist Dr. Deepak Gupta (At Delhi) for 10th Oct'12.

Just praying from the God that all actions will place well for my 3 year old son.

the list regarding the diet what not to give is long not just milk and wheat.

fruits like  apple, banana ,grapes, citrus fruits also comes under the list ,

fruits like guava, pear, chickoo, papaya, custard apple, pomegranate  can be given.

you can give sprouted ragi porridge.jaggery can be used as sweetener. In south india palm jaggery is available. It has more health benefits.

during snacks time u can give (both sweet and salt)snacks  prepared with poha or puffed rice, fried gram.

Hi Raj,

Welcome to the group firstly,  to start of with my son was diagnosed mild autistic and non verbal when he was 2.4 yrs old and it was my luck that i met Dr.Kanaklatha and now at the age of 3.10 he speaks fluently in hindi and understandable english and manages well at school.

We followed GFCF DIET WITH NO SUGAR, NO CORN, NO SOUR,NO SOY,NO ARTICICIAL COLOURS AND PRESERVATIVES.

Till date we are following the diet and it has indeed work wonders. Now my son is in grade Jr. K.G. and goes to a normal school and has friends whom he enjoys with. The teachers at the school are very happy and cooperative about him. Day by day he is getting confident and loves to share his feelings, likes and dislikes.

If my son can recover i believe everybody can as parent we just have to be persistent and follow the diet and biomedical intervention.Any help required ctc back.

Thanks

SG

Hi raunak can u please let me know what is the substitute for sugar and sweet for autistic kids?

 Former member 2014-02-05 08:48:16

Stevia is a good substitute but better not to give too much..

raunak24 2014-02-07 12:32:19

Hi Subhani,

As jovv said too much sweet not gud for our kids but yes for special occasions u can use organic honey that's the only sweetner I use for my kid. Stevia powder is gud but it is not natural hope it helps u.
