Raj, We had Vit D deficiency and we are supplementing with 2 drop of Bio-D-Mulsion Forte Vit D drops daily. His report shows normal Vit-D levels now but we are still giving it. For iron I guess there are lot of iron rich foods available, also the Doctor may supplement accordingly.

aditis 2012-10-19 23:31:18

sunlight is the natural way of increasing vit D. Dr Deepak gave via C tab to my child.

Dr deepak help you in that. you can mail him any time for your quarries. even i m busy with the tests but , my son is facing his midterm. so i will do it on next monday.

@ raj are you maintaining a diry of daily expi ?

i m finding my sons  possitive changes. Till i have not ordered MB12 inj yet.

NJ 2012-10-20 09:06:17

For vit d - carlsons vit D3 drops, Also cod liver oil(not the local ones cos they have very low potency).

For iron, if you are a nonveg, there are lots of sources. The most absorbable form of iron is found in all nonveg foods. For vegs, nuts, green leaves have iron. But you could supplement iron for sometime. I have not supplement iron though. Any product -go for the ones without artificial flavors or colors. Go for glycinate forms which are more easier to absorb by the body and gentler to digest.

NJ 2012-10-20 09:09:02

lots of vegetarians have low iron. so if you are a veg and test yourself for deficiency then most likely, especially women, you may find that you are deficient in iron as well..

aditis 2012-10-20 10:19:20

use iron utensils such as kadhai and tava ( roti maker)

it will increase iron .....

Hi, any of your kid who are more verbal has a confusion with "I" and "You". My kid is confused with this in English. In Mother toungue she is fairly OK now. earlier she did have issues there also. Now i am abroad and have put her in a montessorri setup school for last 2 months. The school is raising few issues like confusion b/w "I" and "you". Asking repeated quesions again and again. Asking question for which she knows answers or things more of parallel play with other kids than interactive play. But when i take her to an indian neighbour she is able to play interactively atleast when guided.

So i am bit confused how to get it right for her all the time on getting the sentence right. When i say she corrects it that moment but goes back to wrong one again. Similarly making her behave well all the time is also a challange. Sometimes she will be extremely good othertimes just the opposite.

But certainly in last 1 year she has come a long way. And in last 2 months too i am seeing terrific improvement. But now i need convice the school about here in a good way because i havent told anything specific about her delays.

thanks all for suggestions for Vitamin D & iron suppliments. We are Veg. My son food tolerance test report also tell me about what r the elements I can't use. like P EA Goat milk, sheep milk, Cow Milk , Almond, bean, Hazel nut, Raisin, Apricot,Grape, Guava, Hops,Orange, Pear, Chestnet,Potato, Lemon,Mango, Mustard Seed etc.

We earlier gave him almonds, pista etc along with rice milk for his diet enrichment but this report we have stopped Almonds now.My son is weaker day by day after starting Casein free diet (Based on Dr. Deepak Consultation). In his report Casein is yellow & buffalo milk is OK. Is any body using buffalo milk while maintaining GCFC diet.

raj0072000in 2012-10-21 09:14:39

@VL , I think that you should tell School about her problems & history. That will help school to work on her in better way. In abroad schools are more receptive for these issues.

For her confusions I feel she is just mugging up most of the things told her & absorbing less. So try not to make her learn a lot & tell school & ur friends to use sentences, words include I & You in conversation with her. Use below mentioned website for her learning at home & consult some good child phychatrist.

raj0072000in 2012-10-21 09:34:54

one query, is peanut butter caseing free & glutein free??

Lita 2012-10-21 11:07:44

@Raj Yes Peanut butter is GFCF, but still check the ingredients added for any particular brand. Some manufacturers make it pure, some add other things. Also test it once and see any reaction, as lot of kids are allergic to peanuts too.

@VL, Even if you don't want to reveal you can start her on seperate Speech Therapy for English, saying that you are Bilingual so she has issues, and you can insist on help with "I and You" and then whatever she is finding difficult. I don't know where you are, but in US in public schools they have a speech therapist in school who work with Bilingual kids if they need help, as there are lot of spanish speaking kids who have difficulty in English, but you have to inform the school if you need this service.

aditis 2012-10-22 08:44:56

doctor didnt told you about multivitamin supplements. it will help your child to come up of any weakness. are you taking gfcf or only cf diet ? you gave me only the chart of cf diet not gf. if your child is allowed to have gluten then there is lot of things that gives energy to your child.

aditis 2012-10-22 08:47:14

this is good to that you get early symptoms of your child. please refer to the doctor as soon as you could.

they will help you in it.

raj0072000in 2012-10-22 11:14:41

Currently my son is on cf diet. Doctor told me for multivitamin suppliment & I am using it also. for GF doctor told us to wait , however we have already gone for partial GF.

Actually  my son loves milk & it was approx. 85% of his diet  earlier. Now such a drastic change in food habits may cause these changes. Is any body using Buffalo milk. Or is buffalo milk casein free??

NJ 2012-10-22 14:57:32

raj, Most of the local milk from govt is buffalo milk is what i heard. buffalo milk like all other animal sources of milk would contain the milk protein. buffalo milk is supposedly more difficult to digest than cow milk. The report says he tolerates buffalo milk, but not cow milk?

NJ 2012-10-22 14:58:18

the milk protein from all animal sources, that i mentioned above, is casein.

NJ 2012-10-22 15:00:01

I agree with what Lita said. Dont reveal to the school just as yet. Tell them she does not have pronoun related issues with her mother tongue(thats the fact isnt it) and she is getting used to English.

NJ 2012-10-22 15:09:05

Repetetive questioning is a way of trying to start conversations or maintain conversations. Just expand their conversations or divert them with other topics or conversations. My son would also ask sometimes, for instance, show me 2 fridge magnets and ask do you like this magnet or that magnet. and I answer, after about 30 mins ask the same question with the same 2 magnets again. Then I would ask him, I like this magnet,............. but where do you think we should put this magnet,.............. shall we put it in this fridge or on the steel shelf. ............., it looks good in this place of the shelf.............. Shall we put a sticker next to it as well?....(Divertion).. Lets stick some stickers on your cycle... Pick up some stickers........I think the car stickers look good on your toy car.........etc.......You know something like that............

aditis 2012-10-22 15:55:46

hey thanks NJ this is very good suggestion from your side. it will help me also.

my son is also shows repetitive behavior.

NJ 2012-10-22 20:22:03

Ragi is a good alternative for ragi. In case you are only on the casein free diet, then there are various health mixes in the market which includes a mixture of pulses, grains and nuts. Read the labels for the ingredients your son is intolerant to as per the report. You could also give chapattis. Gluten free takes a long time to see any effect, so you may start only with casein free at first and see for max a week if you really find improvement when going casein free. Also you need to avoid only the foods which are shown as highly intolerant in the IGE report(ie levels 3 and 4). The other foods can be given- preferably rotated.

NJ 2012-10-22 20:22:30

Pls read the first line as "Ragi is a good alternative for casein free diet".

aditis 2012-10-22 23:52:42

i m using ragi+jawar+bajara to make roti. we at home are all following the gfcf diet. it is best for us also. my son showed little change. but it is very difficult to stick to this diet.

NJ 2012-10-23 13:05:23

Aditis, Yes I completely agree..............................Unless we completely cut us off from  society....... But thats not an option,, coz for how long can one do that...... I followed it strictly for about 6 months(ie gfcf, corn free, soy free, sugar free, citrus free, cocoa free) and avoided going anywhere during that period. Now there are infractions, but largely we stick to the protocol. The doctor had asked us to follow it upto 13 years when we asked for how long we have to continue this diet.... But geez.........We are not living on a fantasy land, Many of our kids go to regular schools, are invited to parties , functions , play with normal kids, so its practically impossible to keep a check everytime. When we told about the doctor the impractical issues she said do you know there are diabetic kids and they are on strict diet too.. So if it needs to be avoided, it has to be avoided.... ....

But I think for us its not a life and death situation like the diabetic kids. So to each their own decisions....................................

raj0072000in 2012-10-23 16:48:04

i think doctor point of view is correct. we should consider it in the same way irrespective of all hinderances. The problem is , in our society no-one want to discuss, accept this truth that his child is autistic. If the things will start taken in a normal way their is no problem i suppose.

hi all

tell me

doest it help to consulting a psycho neurologist ?

they do talk assessment, medication and therapy...etc

any one has any experience?

NJ 2012-10-27 00:34:54

neurologist, psychiatrist and developmental ped all have similar protocol for assessment.

Medications only the psychiatrist will prescribe in addn to therapies, while the other  2 will ask to follow only the therapies.

NJ 2012-10-27 00:35:37

All usually follow the cars method of assessment.

raj0072000in 2012-10-27 20:38:26

My experience is different. I have consulted Child Neurologist Dr. Nitin Maheshwari at Medicity. After consultation He told me their is no neuro problem & you required a Phychatrist. Even He told not to go for any MRI etc.

If you consult directly a child phychatrist He will defiantely go for MRI. So I think It is useful to consult him.

NJ 2012-10-27 21:00:19

We had consulted child psychiatrist only, but she did not suggest an MRI scan. I dont see any reason why should one suggest an MRI scan, unless they suspect a head injury...

brave 2012-10-27 23:07:11

when we consulted the psycho neurologist ,he told us to go in for  EEG,Assessment by pshchologist, blood test and psysio therapist test etc.

an assessment by psychologist we have done a 2 yrs ago and as per her advice we r doing all the therapies..and there is improvement.

i wonder if all the other tests would prove anything different?

some how i m not for medication as suggested by my pead. today when i spoke to a mom of simliar child who is also a doctor ...said no purpose wd be served by EEG etc.

suggested that stick to one assesment and give more focus on the therapies..i think she is right

Lita 2012-10-28 04:56:32

When we had been to a neurologist in Bangalore, she suggested MRI to rule out any other issues before giving the diagnosis and said they do the EEG to check if the child is having seizures whether awake or in sleep. Even a constant stare at a place is also said to be silent seizures.
