This is an advanced test and is given to pregnant women who have had abnormal levels of blood sugar in their glucose screening test.
This test can take about a good chunk of the day—almost half a day. So ensure that you budget time for this. Also, take someone with you or take a good book to keep you entertained and pepped up.
Here is how this test is conducted:
If you do not test positive for any of the 3 sample tests, then you are fine and not diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
These 3 blood samples will be tested and compared to your baseline blood sample. If you test positive (have abnormal blood sugar) for only 1 test then, you will be asked to make diet changes and will be tested again. If you test positive for 2 out of the 3 tests, you will be diagnosed with gestational diabetes and the doctor will start treating you for it.
