need help - for my kid education

Jun 13, 2012 4:19 PM Share

Dear All,

I am an NRI planning to return to Hyderabad after 5 years in USA. Right now, my Daughter has completed 9th grade in USA and will be coming to 10th Grade now. She doesn’t know how to write Telugu (fluent in speaking & understanding) or Hindi. After going through many discussions, for us it looks like international school (IGCSE curriculum) is best for her for 10th grade. She is very advanced kid in High school here in Atlanta.. She is doing AP CalculusAB(finished Algebra 1,2,3,4 & geometry), AP Biology, Advanced Spanish, Honors English, World History.

Appreciate any help on this topic. How are these International schools in Hyderabad? Which school is best for her? Which one is best suitable for her IGCSE or CBSE( I know second language is problem)?

Thanks in advance….. Srini.

Hi Srini,

I stayed in US for 10years and returned last year to India for good.

My son is 7 years old and he is studying in CBSE school and he struggles with Telugu but not bad.

With my experience I would like to suggest you not to go for Telugu.. go for spanish and put her in International school.

Good Luck

Hi There,
There are two schools in Hyderabad with IGCSE
Oakridge International School where you can choose IGCSE along with Spanish as a second Language. Here you have another option for CBSE with Spanish as a Second Language (It's the only School which offers Spanish as a Second Language for CBSE)
Indus International School: Here you can choose only IGCSE with Spanish as a Second Language.
Chirec: They have IGCSE but no Spanish.

Srini,
Since your daughter has been following AP curriculum, I would suggest to take IB. But there are only a few schools with IB MYP. Most of the schools have IB in only 11th and 12th grade. I don't know much about hyd schools. Please contact Mickey in Parentree who can help you finding the right IB schools.
