I still vividly remember how we celebrated our children's birthday last year. We celebrated both their birthdays on the same day.
The theme we chose was a water splash party + a treasure hunt game.
We all got up in the morning, after the usual morning rituals we started decorating the house with balloons and streamers. We got 2 big inflatable pools (we had one and borrowed one from a friend) out and ready to be used. We got a little bit carried away and got a waterfall ready for the kids to stand under too! This was achieved by fitting a big shower head directly to the water tank. We managed to do this 'cos we had the pool party in the terrace. Then, we started hiding the gifts for the treasure hunt. We found a few interesting places to hide the goodies for e.g. we stuck them under the chairs, tables, behind doors etc. We kept the gifts simple - pen with characters on it and a pencil+eraser combo. We also made sure that every child had a gift to search out.
Since we were busy getting all these things ready at home we had decided to cater the food. Both my kids are totally into cars so the older one wanted a Red racing car and the younger one wanted a blue racing car on their b'day cakes.
By the time it was 4 p.m. and the kids started to arrive one by one. The pool party and the treasure hunt was a great hit among the kids. By the time we got done with the latter the kids were ready to cut and eat the cake, mini pizzas, aloo bun, cookies, chips and juice.
We decided to ask the parents not to bring any gifts, we just wanted it to be a non stressful party for the parents and the children. At the end of it all my kids did get a few gifts in the end. The day came to an end at around 8 p.m., by that time the kids were totally beat, and they went to bed.
