Gateway The Complete School – Shollinganallur

My daughter is in eight grade now (joined as a 4th grader). The school follows, the Cambridge curriculum she had the check point exams and faired with good scores for all the subjects she appeared (English, Math & Science) with 6/6 points in all which is considered to be the best according to the Cambridge examinations. From grade 9 she’ll be doing the IGCSE syllabus. Based on what I see, the syllabus looks good and competitive. The books are also exactly the Cambridge prescribed textbooks. Compared from other curriculum this curriculum is the best.
We moved to India from US when she completed her 3th grade and till date she has got a good support from all her teachers and she does extremely well and enjoys going to school. The curriculum was the same as she studied in the US; this made her very confident and independent and Gateway focuses on the overall development of the child and classrooms has a friendly atmosphere.

Gateway does not have a higher fee structure than many other international schools I hear about. The facilities are top notch. Teachers are very good and friendly. They try to understand every child and make them feel at home. Students to teacher ratio hovers somewhere around fifteen to one. There a PTM twice in every term and we also get regular feedbacks through mails, and still if you want more feedback you can fix an appointment and meet up with the concerned teacher. They give importance to every child and treat them as their own.

Facilities and extracurricular activities are also very good. Classes in karate, dancing, chess, robotics, swimming, Keyboard, Yoga, Guitar, Western and Indian Music are all available. School buses (about six to seven buses) connect surrounding areas.

Over the years I have seen Gateway is succeeding well in both academics and extracurricular activities. There are children who scored 100% in many subjects in their IGCSE, AS & A level examinations, and A* is very easily achieved by the Gatewayites.
Their recent success is their ISA award by the British council which has raised their position in the city.
Personally I feel Gateway is doing great with all the achievements by my daughter and her friends. I am extremely happy to recommend to others.

hi folks,
I am so happy with the development of my daughter in Gateway..the books or the syllabus cannot be definitely be compared with the other syllabus as this is more of constructive learning and with visuals and practice which i very well prefer.. i never wanted her to undergo the normal torture but at the same time be more informative and qualitative..which it is been met..out..i am never U.S returned but We live in India and it is far unwise to compare with a different form of culture and country...

Folks,
Here is a review of Gateway, The complete School, located Chennai.

First the basics:
The school has two locations. The primary school is in Sholinganallur, on OMR, and a second branch for higher grades is in Padur, further down OMR. Website is http://gatewaytheschool.in/

My daughter is in third grade now (joined as a second grader). The school follows, what is called the Cambridge International Primary program, for up to sixth grade, and then moving on to ICSE syllabus. Based on what I see, the syllabus looks good and competitive. I haven't compared books from other systems though.

Before I get in to the details, few words on why/how we selected Gateway. We did the typical return-to-India thingy from San Jose, CA in 2007. For various reasons, we couldn't go through the process of standing in a long queue, getting the application the previous November, attending the interviews(I mean parents) etc. More importantly we wanted a school system that would make our daughter feel comfortable during the transition period and at the same time provide a competitive education. Gateway fit the bill. Location also played a small role, being close OMR. Application process was simple. Teachers understood our situation(they had many other parents like us there) and accommodated late arrival for the academic year. The curriculum was geared towards overall development of the child and classrooms had a friendly atmosphere.

Gateway is definitely on the higher end of fee spectrum (~Rs6000/month for a II/III grader), but not as expensive as few other international schools I hear about. The facilities are top notch. Teachers are very good and friendly. They understood our daughter's situation very well and made her feel at home. Students to teacher ratio hovers somewhere around fifteen to one. We have regular parents-teacher meetings to get update on our daughter's progress.

Facilities and extra curricular activities are also very good. Classes in karate, dancing, chess, robotics, swimming and few others that I am forgetting are all available. School buses (about six are seven routes) connect surrounding areas.

Overall, we are very pleased and satisfied with Gateway and would be happy to recommend it to others.
