hi rubu, i am a working woman myself and hv a business and 2 children... and no maid to help!!! here is how i do it... I plan the weeks menu in advance and get the vegetables and meat required for the week on Sunday, clean and make pkts as per the menu day. Boiling potatoes, making the masalas, making & freezing curry base etc is all done on the sunday. I even make brown onion paste and store in the fridge so it becomes easier as i don't hv to chop onions in the morning... I choose simple dishes and keep the complicated heavy stuff for weekends when I am with my family to enjoy them. Making sandwich fillings or spinach/methi rotis or vegetable rice/pasta ensures my sons get the proper nutrition and appeases their hunger along with being quick to make. I even knead wheat dough and store it in the fridge (keeps for a few days). Usually my day starts with me gettin g up at 6am, taking out the meat and keeping it out for thawing, making breakfast, feeding everyone, washing the plates, cooking the thawed out meat or veg as per my menu, filling the caseroles with my hubby's and sons' lunch (hv a lot of hot cases and caserroles) and usually by 9am, I leave for office. Any unwashed dishes i rinse out and leave for when i come in at 6.30... Also, I hv invested in a rice cooker which is like a God-sent appliance and has made my life much more easier... Sometimes, when my hubby is at home, i leave the rice cooker on, it cooks the rice and keeps it warm for 4 hours which is an advantage as my family gets hot rice by lunch time...Hope all this helps... All the best and don;t give up... things will take some time coming around but eventually we women manage to get things in our stride don't we???

YOu are so hardworking.. wow.. things worked out well for me. I got a good maid .. I treat her like family and she treats my kids well in return.. i also try to do majority of the shares like cooking , cleaning etc.. but i do get help fm maid for the main chores..
and i eventually took the 2 to 11 time slot so that saves a lot of time that previously used to go in traffic jams...
i loved the idea of yours using rice cooker.. i m thinking abt buying one.. you are a genius girl..using a rice cooker, doesnt involve any rocket science , my hubby can do that too, and so can my maid...
my work is good and i m happy that i gave it a shot.. my hubby was very apprehensive but now i think he is ok..
i m sure ur family wud be proud of you.. u are super efficient
