Hi RaviChennai

I got the form today and interview is on 27th dec.

Do you know anyone who is studying in amrita vidyalaya? Fees increases when standars increases right? Do you have any idea abt fees of higher classes? Till now I got only positive reviews abt the school and extra-curricular, do you know anything negative abt the school?

My daughter studies in this school. She is in LKG now. We admitted her for Prekg last year. She is very happy with the school.

The main advantages are:

1. Reasonable donation and term fees.

2. No need to pay donation if you transfer your ward to any of the Amrita Schools in India. They have got Schools mostly in all cities.

3. No too much restrictions on leave policies for K.G students (I have heard from my friends most of the schools demand medical report to rejoin if the ward takes morethan 2 days leave at a stretch)

4. No too heavy home works or projects. They are taking care the same at School.

5. No exams for K.G.Students.

6. Van facility managed by School with reasonable quarterly fee (Earlier it was monthly)

There is no health hazard due to the river nearby. The river is some what clean in that area.

My daugher and we parents are very much happy with the school.

Ravichennai,

i recently attended an interaction, they demanded 30K admission fee and 15K for fees(full year).

Can you please confirm if the 20K is the recent update or its of previous years.

Hi Auromira,

It was for pre-KG only and for acadenmic year 2012-2013. I wanted to know if they have increased specifically for me or its common for everyone.

if they increased for me, then i would like to negotiate the admission fees with them.i am not sure how they will respond.

If you know more about the school from the parent, please let me know. i wanted to know more about staffs, teaching methhodology, homework burden.,extracurricular activities, previous years 10th and 12th performance.

I am confused in deciding between Ponvidyashramam, Valasaravakkam and Amrita.

Help in time from anyone is highly appreciated, as i will have to decide in a very short time.

I admitted her last year  for pre-kg. Admission was during Dec'09 for 10-11 academic year for pre-kg. She is in LKG now.

I am from a middle class family having a monthly earning of 50K. It is the affordable CBSE school for me with good quality of education and emphasised charector development. In my view, we do not have to spend all our earings purely for the education of our children. I am paying term fee of about 4K for her LKG class. van fee is Rs.750/month for a distance of about 3KM.

I am not sure about the current year donation for new admissions. You may check the same with the school.

Please see the link below for some information about the school.

hi murugan,

the questions were simple. they had few displays on the table fruits,animals,vehicles.They wanted the kid to identify them. my kid identified them in tamil (Mother tongue) they were ok with it. Few were not answered, it was not really bothered.

Basically they look for whether the kid can speak and if they can do some amount of identification. i am sure any kid can make it.when is your wards interaction, please update after the session. specfically on what is the admission fee.

if you know any other information on school.please share.

Divraj,

Thanks for the information. Few questions , could be fine fif you can gather information as your ward is already there.

what was the previous 10th , 12th results? How well are the staffs performing? are they are experinced?

what are the extracurricular activities?  is the admission fee is refundable?

Glad that their fee structure is less.But could smell that they are turning to business mode. 20K admission fee raised to 30K. and fee also increased. probably you will hear the information about fee increase in the next academic year.

i am not seeing a big difference between the fee structures of ponvidyashramam(PV) and Amirta. for prekg , PV charges 52K , Amrita charges 45K. 7K difference per year is not a big deal.

I found PV having good academic records and the teachers are really experianced.what i saw in the interaction session is the staff could grab my kids attention in few mins, which amazed me because my kid usually dont speak to new people and avoids eye contact.She made my kid so comfortable.

this is tilting me more towards PV. Please advice on my questions above.

 @RisingSun,

Amrita Vidyalayam is definetely several hundred times better than pon vidyashram - i m going by words of diff parents and reviews online.

Sudhaakv - had mentioned 20k for prekg 2012-13 donation. I think you should politely negotiate and seek reduction. If 2k 3k extra should be fine, not 10k...because other parents paying less so i m saying..

i loved the school but didnt apply for prekg this  year....

AV is a national network of schools...

the plus 2 topper n tenth topper is from AV kochi...judo cbse champion also from AV / I think i read online swimming first AV - has beaten national record...but not sure if it is AV chennai...

But AV chennai or any AV has same sort of way of teaching....

the school size is very huge...and amazing atmosphere...

I m a Pranic healer - i checked the energy of the school and felt good and powerful there..

Auromirra,

Thanks for the valuble reply. I checked with an other parent who attended interaction for LKG, he mentioned 30K as admission fee and 15K as fees.

I have sought clarification from ravichennai, who had  mentioned the admission fee as 20k in this thread. i will make sure i will negotiate once i get it confirmed.

i am not sure if AV chennai scores like other AV's in India.

May I know the reason, you did not prefer AV, chennai for your kid against your research results? Do u recommend any other school's comparatively?

Hi

I told last years fees as 20k. Not this years fees. I have interaction on 27th Dec and will update you after that.

But thru someother I heard that for 1st standard admission they asked 38k including first term fees. which means 30k donation and 8k term fees.

8k fees per term is too high for 1st standard and it is not affordable for middle class like me. I prefered that school bcoz of its affordable fee nature (mainly), but if this is going to be the fee, then am not sure what to do.

May be i will chk when my interaction happens, regarding the higher classes term fees.

  @sudhaakv sorry I mentioned wrong...  it is 30k this year is it? Oh God!!! - the trust of AMMA is so big in world, so they can actually give free or for less...they have 56 cbse schools nationwide! so why do they need this money? Amma should/ bless all applicants with less or free....I suggest all parents - please negotiate...  @Rising sun - I m seeking admission in another school...that is why i didnt apply here..though i registered early...even though AV is so good...all my efforts are there...

@Sudhaakv,

probably there is some misunderstanding. iam done with interaction, they told me it is 30K admission fee + 15K tution fee for whole year(total 45K). But they gave an option that i can pay 30+8=38 K during admission and rest 7K later.

i heard the same from another parent done with interaction for LKG.

But still i also feel its on higher side.but all schools are in the same range, infact little higher or more higher to amirta. as i mentioned early PV demanded 52.5K in total, but they did not specify the breakups.

@Auromirra,

just curious, is it psbb millenium? if it another school what made the difference for your decision?

Please dont mind if i ask too much questions, just wanted to find ideal school for my kid, even i feel iam trying to get free consultation from the Parnic hearler . Well, thanks in advance!

 @Risingsun

You cant compare PV and AV - AV is far more superior...

When compared to so many other cbse schools, this is far cheaper...but those schools are commercial schools, not run by such a huge trust as AV...if a school is run by a big  trust we r expecting no donation...

I didnt apply in PSBB millineum... distance is far - for several years my child should travel so far as gerugambakkam is not ok for my family...

Please check with PV and other schools on annual fee for the coming years. I am sure they are charging about 45K for LKG and UKG. I have got a friend whose daugher is studying at PV, ECR. They are also looting the parents for each events conducted in the school. The annual fee of AV is about 12K to 15K for LKG & UKG.

Please dnt bothered abt the donation given to the schools if it is reasonable. AV is charging the donation in the name of Building fund and it is not refundable. But, they promise education for your ward in any of the AV school in India, if you get transferred to anywhere in India, without further deposit. They told me in sweet words "this money is for taking care your child as long as she is with us". We should realise a fact that the term fees will not be enough for maintaining a good school considering teachers salary and other development activities.

I am not sure about the percentage of +2 results. But understand from my friends that the quality of education is good for higher classes also.

The teachers are very friendly with the children.
