First they took the child to a Nursery class after all the students has left home by 12.15 pm and when my kid was silent they called me inside the class.

Then they started asking Wats ur name ..and they showed elephant and asked wat was that and some shapes. But they just saw whether the child is able to interact with teachers or not..

I am planning to put my son in SAN Academy. I would like to know some feedback about the school specifically on the below from parents whose children are studying there already.

1. Any details on the expansion plans

2. I see a lot of good feedback on the KG classes. Are the primary classes (I to iV) equally good

3. The quality of teaching and student strength in the primary classes.

4. Is importance given to spoken English , sports and other extra curricular activities?

5. Does the environment in primary classes match up to well established schools in terms of discipline.

Thanks in Advance

All:

Beware of Harini tailor. (The tailor shop near by San Academy).  Do not give your new clothes to that Guy. He is a drunken monk. He opens the shop twice in a month and only during school timings. He used to collect the dresses and vanish and you will find him after 2 months.

I'm wondering why San Academy chooses that tailor for stiching student's cloth. Hope the school will not assist him in the coming days.

Pass on this message to your friends and well-wishers....

TC is mandotory for a LKG admission in San/Sunshine ??

I am planning to put my kid in play school this year instead of Pre KG and want to put in LKG directly by Jan 13 (admission process)..

Why i am doing this is during dec i need to shift my house ,so there is no continuity for Prekg ..also dont want to pay school fees twice for prekg....

Pls clarify

@Vrj - My kid is studying in SAN and am pretty much satisfied with the school. There is no undue pressure on the kids and at the same time kids are learning what they need to. Only glitch is the location of the main school is unknown and the there is no idea how the higher standards would be. However I have confidence that they would do a good job. Navadisha has been functioning for many years now and I hardle hear negative feedback about the school except the admission is very difficult. Opinions differ and hence you are the best person to decide.

SaranS - To my knowledge, they did not ask any TC for LKG admission in SAN Academy. Why don't you choose a school that is inbetween your rented and own house? Or stay in your rented house till your kid completes Pre KG.It is only a matter of three months. Moreover the admission process starts by December itself for most schools and hence there would be no issues

@ Navadisha they said admission closed for prekg. Need to try for SAN - based on the good feedback I see in this forum. but from Adambakkam there are too many lefts & rights to reach the school. I hope there is no problem with NOC they have.

@vrj - To my knowledge, there is no problem with the NOC. However you can cross check with the school. The office staff and the principal are always ready to answer your questions. They are very professional as well.

Thanks Umabala.

though my daughter is little short of 3.5 yrs SAN is ok to get admission to LKG but they say kids should be knowing to write alphabets and numbers which my daughter does not know to write. Just confused if to put her in preKG or in LKG. My concern is that she should not struggle later in higher classes. Do preKG students really write alphabets and numbers?

Your advices please.

@Lakshmi - This was what i was told in office. Now thinking whether to put her in prekg or LKG.

Generally what is the entry age for LKG so that they can comfortably pickup in higher classes?

VRJ,

As per CBSE Norms, for LKG the kid can be admitted if the DOB is before 31st March of the respective years. As far as we understand for our kids they started writing only in LKG.

thanks Lakshmi.

Request any of the parents from preKG and LKG kids in SAN to share the syllabus/curriculam they had. This will help me to decide if she can go to LKG or not.

I got an advice to put my kid in preKG so that she is becomes mature to handle to load after 1st std. If i put in LKG she would be one of the youngest and may feel difficult to study on par with older kids than her.

@ Lakshmi2 - I rechecked with another staff and they said writing will start in LKG only. Not sure why earlier we were told so! I am planning to put her to prekg though she has crossed 3 yrs so that she would be mature enough to handle higher classes.

vrj- we were sailing in the same boat last year as my kiddo was just grazing over 3 years when we enrolled her in preKG in SAN.  She is probably the youngest in the class (all sections combined). We were a little apprehensive in the beginning, even contemplating to make her repeat the year if she does not cope up.  To our surprise, everything has turned out well.  To start with, there were some differences in motor skills, but now definitely my child is on par with the other kids.  Also, there are a couple of kids in her class of her age and to my knowledge, everybody is faring well.  I even checked with my pediatrician and was told that initially there may be some differences, but lateral on it solely boils down on the individual child.

The ball is in your court.

Thanks SANparent. So your kid was in LKG @ 3yrs. What I felt was in higher classes they may feel loaded or feel difficult to do things. I was thinking of putting her in prekg until I saw your reply  though she may be one of the older ones in class. DAV strictly says 3.5yrs as entry for LKG.

@ vrj - There is no set rule as far as entry age is concerned in CBSC schools.  Some of the "best" schools like National Public School, Chettinad Vidhyashram, SBOA, Asan Memorial, Bala Vidya Mandir have 3 yrs as entry age for LKG, while others are strict with 3.5, but then what impact a period of six months is going to have on a child is questionable.  Maybe in the initial years of child development and education, ie. in kindergarten, it may have a bearing as far as the physical aspect is concerned (fine motor skills and gross motor skills), but once they go to primary class, I think a child's EQ/IQ depends more on his/her innate qualities and interests.  By the way, no body can bet that in a class the oldest will be the brightest.  This is my personal opinion.  I think a talk with the centre head should help you take a better decision.

All the best.

Hi all, ( esp to umabala),

This is my second posting to the thread.

Firstly, A Big Sorry to Umabala for not replying to her regarding the San Academy Interactive session. It went on well Uma and you have got the updates from Saran and freebird1mani as well :)

I'm glad to tell you all that my son has joined SAN Academy , Jr.KG. Today was his first day and he was a happy kid from school. Though the feedbacks are good in the thread, I was not much satisfied. But when the child is back home happy, that makes the day for his mom :)

The only problem I'm facing right now is regarding his TRANSPOTATION,way back from school. The School van seems to have difficulty entering into the Gangai nagar 1st street. Am looking for someone who is in and around to share some other mode of transpotation like Tata Magic or Auto depending on the number of kids. I really would appreciate some help from the parents in the thread to help me out get some contacts.

Regarding the school, they had a huge crowd today and they seem to have almost 5 jr.kg classes. My son is in B section. He got 2 stars today to make his day. He was in Roots to Wings, KK nagar for Pre-KG last year and had a fun time there. Expecting the same here with Teachers. Hoping for the best in the forthcoming days!

You need not be sorry for such things Rema!! I understand!!

You can try email via parentree to lakshmi in this forum whose kid comes in a private van to the school. She knows the driver well and she can provide you the contact number.

Why are you not satisfied? The school has just commenced..do not jump into conlusions...The office staff and the center head are reachable and hence you can have your clarifications/regrets sorted out!!

All the best for your kids schooling!!

Take Care

Thanks for the info uma. I will contact Lakshmi via email. The school van actualy comes very late in the afternoon and that really concerns me since he leaves by 8 in the morning.

I have no issues with the school but intially I was little concerned since we always have the nature of comparing such schools to the biggies in the city :). But my son seems happy and also there is huge group out here in parent tree. That relieves me. Btw, what class is your kid in?
