Hi ,
I am residing in Perungudi Ramappa Nagar. We have got LKG admission for our 3 yrs old daughter in GT Aloha vidya mandhir neelangarai.
Just to be on the safer side we had opted for Sankara Senior - Adayar also.
They will call LKG admission only by Jan end. For us both this school and Neelangarai are at the same distance from our house. I am unable to decide about this.
Somebody please guide me.
So far i have heard that GT Aloha is best being run by the supervision of Maharishi vidya mandir Chetpet.

Hi Gaya:
I also have the same confusion. I stay in Thiruvanmiyur and got LKG admission for my 3 yr daughter in GTAVM neelangarai.
If someone can guide please.
|
|
hmmm..... some people say you shift your house in or around neelangarai. Its very tough. We have recently just 4 months back shifted to this (our own house) so that option also is again hard to think.
Amir: i am in the same dialemma , we have to wait until someone parents of LKG buddies in sankara and GTaloha provide us some feedback.

hi vibhas and divya
Thank you very much for your positive feedback. I got admission for my younger son in 4th std. He is in bollineni bvm global. We are shifting him to gt aloha by seeing outstanding performance of children there. Till now i couldn't contact any parents and get to know exactly about scool. I request you to pl. give your phone no. and email id to my email id sesirao@gmail.com. I want to know about teaching, extra activities etc. Where are you living?
We met principal and she is very nicely answering all our queries. Also she said from this academic year onwards fiitjee is going to take integrated classes for higher standards. Its been very attractive and impressive.
hi gayatri
sankara is a really wonderful school. My elder son is in that school from 6th std. onwards. We live in thoraipakkam so i didn't join my younger son there as distance is very long. GT aloha's performance in 1 year is amazing. So we joined my younger one there.

thanks sesi and thanks everyone who participated in this discussion.

@sesi ,
May I know the reaosn why you are shifting your son from BVM Bollineni to GT Aloha?
As far as I have heard BVM is one of the most good and the respected schools in chennai.I have got admission for my daughter in bvm bollineni and so would like to know was anything bad about bvm which made you shift your kid from that school?

hi meena
As you said bvm is very good school and i am very happy with this school. But access became very tough for me. School is much interior and no auto or share auto is ready to ply inside. This is one major point and one more thing is i thought there will be extra activities taught in school like music, karate, chess etc to name few. As of now there is no activity like that and in future i don't know whether they are going to give them or not. And one more thing, we had very tough time with transportation. School bus used to drop children on road and we were finding very difficult to cross roads with small children in that heavy traffic. Finally, after many pleads to school i understand that school bus will not come inside, then we some parents spoke to private van and hired private van. From then onwards, kids are finding smooth to go and come back inspite of bad roads.
Coming to gt aloha, suddenly i read about amazing performance of children from gt aloha in all aspects both academics and extra activities. When i enquired about this school i found out that this school is much closer to us and also school transportation is there. Their academics is very good, they are offering robotics from class 1, french as a 2nd language , abacus mental maths from 1st std which gives so much of confidence for kids in maths, yoga, meditation, many many extra activities. Kids also performing amazingly. And mainly fiitjee which gives training for olympiads and iitjee ,aieee competitions is going to tie up with this school and pricipal told that they are coming in this academic year and fiitjee will train children from 8th std. After i came to know this i felt very happy as my elder son is taking fiitjee classes and going every sunday to adyar. Now if i want my younger son to take these classes he can take them directly in his school. This is overall my opinion about this gt aloha. Hope i could help you out.

oh ok,where do you stay Sesi?

Hi,
Can you please let me know if you'd paid any capitation fee? And, also let me know the student teacher ration and the school fees.
|
|
hi kids2
There is no capitation fee. They just asked us to pay term fees. For new admissions we have to pay full fee at one time while taking admission. But they also mentioned in their prospectus that if you wanted to pay 2 times year you can request them. Fees for 1st year is around 41k per year. Next year onwards some 36k per year which is very reasonable. But for prospectus and application form they are charging 1000 rupees.

Prospectus can be viewed free from the website. It makes sense to buy one if we have made up our mind on this school. What is your impression on the school? Student, teacher ratio? How was the interview process?
I checked with one of the mom whose kid studies there in class 3. She says the teaching is good and extracurricular activities are also good. But, she has heard that maths teaching is not good in 4th. I guess it is a gamble that we take in all schools.
|
|
hi kids2
We got good impression about this school. As of now student teacher ration is 24:1 and they said they are going to increase max. 32 or 34:1 and there will be 2 sections for each class. Actually, its not interview principal just told about her school and achievements etc details. Teachers are well trained it seems and every one had b.ed degree with sufficient experience. Overall i felt its good school. And we cannot satisfy each and every one. There will be some or other things which some people like and some people doesn't like. Principal also told the same thing that def. there will be negative remarks as well as positive remarks and she told we thrive for improvement and many parents are very happy with the success rate and teaching and other things.

Hi Sesi,
I live in Ramappa nagar behind life line hospital perungudi.
We are much interested in GT aloha but worried about the transportation from here to neelangarai.
ACtually speaking parallel road to perungudi is quite short to travel to GT aloha.
but roads are highly damaged and we are afraid to even drive by two wheeler.
any better means of transport from here . ? do you have any idea?
school bus goes to sholinganallur and takes left there on it will be more distance for an LKG baby to travel.
otherwise school wise we are happy..need a better suggestion on this.
if no way then i will have to wait for sankara admission which main road travel is bit easy. but again distance wise same distance so as perungudi to GT aloha.
|
|
hi gayatri
Its true that its long distance for lkg baby. But sankara also same way on road. Again bvm global also same distance. But i observed that many lkg, ukg kids are going as school is good. As of gt aloha, school people promised that school transportation will be there and its safe.
My husbands collegue and a good friend of us joined his kid in gt aloha along with us and spoke to one parent whom he knows well. They also live in perungudi it seems and from their apt. complex many kids are going to gt aloha. They are very happy with the school. I think lkg , ukg kids are also there(hopefully). So there is no need to worry as school transportation is there.
Sankara's main drawback is they don't provide school transportation. We need to send our kids in private vans which i am doing for my elder son who is in 9th std now. My younger son is in 3rd and this is the main reason i didn't join him in sankara even though we got admission. Private vans are not that safe regarding such small children. School transportation is always best. So if you like the school very much just speak to school people and better send your kid along with other kids who are already going from perungudi.

Hi Gayathri, Just happened to read this thread when i browse through parentree. I'm also live in Ramappa nagar, perungudi & i'm now searching for admission for my son in LKG. I'm also considering sri sankara, adyar & GT aloha..Both are yet to give application...As you have experience in applying for these schools, do you know whether Srisankara adyar will look for distance as criteria for admission? we are ready to shift our house if admission is confirmed as we are living in rented house. Your input will really be helpful. Thanks, -Murugavel.
|
|
what is the distance from shollinganallur to GT aloha vidya mandir?
|
|
hello Mr. Murugavel, As far as we have observed, GT aloha is very good in extra curricular activities + the way they handle kids. my daughter is in LKG and she is quite happy after joining here. We have selected this school as they are supervised by Maharishi vidya mandir .. Sankara - Adayar is also branded and was started in 70's. if you have plans to shift your house at adayar then sankara is good. else GT aloha to my opinion they are doing very good. Again you should be prepared to travel through the pathetic short cut roads from perungudi to neelangarai.. the round about distance (perungudi via sholinganallur to gtaloha or perungudi via thiruvanmiyur to gtaloha ) is bit difficult.. School van comes by 7 am and there is no drop for lkg kids in the afternoon session .. that too only for perungudi candidates. they do have a drop at enjambakkam.. .you can even check they might reschedule the plan in the forth coming year.. please do let me know if you need any more inputs.. -Thanks Gayathri
|
|
Hi Vanitha, Sholinganallur to neelangarai is not that far compared to perungudi to neelangarai.. may be 7 km approx.. thx -Gayathri
|
|
thanks gayathri... when are the application forms issued for next academic year..
|
|
Gayathri, Thanks for the details...We are ready to shift to loacality near the school if admission is confirmed as we are in rented Apt. So, transport is not an issue. Have to tried in sankara last year. Will they look for distance criteria? perungudi may be 5 kms from sankara. Thanks again for sharing your experience. Regards, -Murugavel.
|
|
Application forms , they will start giving by dec.. will try to get the info tomorrow or call up 044- 24493868 and check. Definitly sankara look for distance. perungudi to Adayar is nearly 7 kms. if you shift your house then you have pretty good chance.. shifting near the school is better than sending the kids in private vans.. -Thanks Gayathri

Hi Gayathri / parents from GT, Can you please let me know how the school is doing? I am looking for II std admission. We are staying in Triplicane and if we get admission in GT, we are ready to shift near Thiruvanmiyur. Your feedback about the school will really help us to take a decision. Thanks,
|

Hey Guys, How is the school doing now. I have twins and plan to put them in GT Aloha. I am residing in Triplicane as well and would want to know about the school since i have very less time left to decide. What is your suggestion - good / bad / ok. would be great if some G T Aloha parent shares their phone nos. so that i may check on the same. Alternatively please reach me at 98844 65860 and provide me your valuable feedback to take a decision. Kalakavi - Where does your child go now in Triplicane. Thanks everyone in advance.

I am much disappointed with the school after doing 2 yrs of education .. i do understand that there will be always a negative side in any school. but the kid feels so hard in UKG due to too much of pressure. either piled up home work or no home work at all. i donot know what to say ... more over travelling from perungudi to neelangarai she finds too hard ..she gets either back pain or neck pain .. school van comes by 7 or 7:30 daily and she finds fuzzy to finish off her bfast. i am planning to put her somewhere near. friends, please give your best suggestions about in and around schools @perungudi. as the admissions will start by sept in some schools please send across ur suggestions ASAP.
