Hi all,

My daughter is 20 months old. she has lots of hairs on her face and other parts of body like hands, back etc. I have tried making ata bolls and rolling it over the skin as suggested by grand parents but that doesnt seem to work. Also she doent allow us to do so. Please suggest some remedies for body hair removal on kids so that she does not need to worry after growing up.

Thanks, Barkha

Hello Barkha,

Samitarna,Pritam and Gomz have already told about the miracle herb turmeric. It is the best. You need to use it everyday before giving her a bath. You can also mix a pinch of turmeric in body oil daily before her bath and scrub it  very gently with besan or green moong dal(the one which we use for sprouts) powder. I have used this for 2 yrs for my daughter. She is now 3.3 but still i continue it once or twice a week.

For the initial days, you can also try milk bread soaked in 3 to 4 tablespoons of milk. Let it soak for 5 minutes. Mash it and apply this paste all over her body. Wait for 3 to 4 min till it dries  and gently remove the paste. I have tried this on my  daughter when she was just 5 months old as she too was having lot of hair. The hair came off miraculously !!  I have done this only twice and then applied oil with haldi religiously followed by scrub without fail . Slowly the remaning hair too vanished. The first time it was done by an elderly marwaadi lady who came to give her a traditional bath.

Please do not scrub too hard as their skin is very delicate. After the srub, you can just wash using cetaphil cleansing lotion and apply cetaphil lotion or baby lotion after her bath. There is no need to use soap after the scrub. You can wash with milk or cetaphil cleansing lotion followed by warm water to retain the suppleness.

Cheers,
Mickey

Hi Barkha,

I don't think, you will find any soap for this purpose. Children are very fussy. Deviate her attention into some games, books or stories while you are doing this. You need to have lot of patience. It will work out surely.  Don't ever try such soaps coz it will be laden with chemicals which will not be good for her delicate skin. Indian remedies are  the best and time tested. Try these options.

Cheers,
Mickey

Hi Mickey, Thanks so much. Would it work on my son who is now 20months old. Needless to say I've been so desperately looking for a solution to this because my little monkey has a hint of a mustache. I hope that goes away...

Hi Roses, For boys i think you shd think twice before you do this. He might blame you later for not able to grow mustache later.  b'cos once you apply it's permanent.  Just a thought..

You know from my first hand experience with this little one I feel that the boy hormones kick in twice in a lifetime :-)) ...once at toddlerhood and the next when they just are about to turn teenagers. I hope it is that way with his mush (mustache) too!

ok...on a more sober note, i will not touch his mustache.

Hi all,

I m mother of 1 yr old daughter. My daughter is also having hair on her arems and leg (not too much). till now i have not try anything for that. i was just routine daily message of olive oil before bath. I am wondering that from where i can get that herbal powder. Is it easily available in market or we have to prepare that. another doubt is as i m working female i wont be able to do it daily. How effective it will be if i do it on saturdays and sundays.

Even my daughter has lots of hair, Hereditary!  Try doing these, which I collected from many ppl...

1. Use very little Coconut oil, it will increase the hair growth. Instead use mustard oil. It has a strong smell, so apply only for 5mins and wash with herbal powder with fragrance. This increases the body heat, so you have to balance her diet too..

2. Heard from a North Indian that , once they deliver a girl baby they used to apply mommy's milk all over the baby's body for 3month ..This completely removes the facial & body hair itseems.. But for 2 or 3yr old its too late for us :)

3. I know the tamil names of these common herbs - You can even see growing on waste land!. They are purposefully used by our elders.  Turmeric, dried kuppameni leaves ( Indian acalypha), korai kizhangu (Coco grass), Poolan kizhangu (Zedoary) -- grind & mix them with Moong dal powder and apply.

This powder (from Poolan kizhangu) has a strong and soothing smell, will give nice good sleep!

I am going to try milk bread idea immediately! Thanks!
