Hi everybody,

Its a great thread ....it took long time to read all posts.

Well, I am from Pune having small 1.5yrs old daughter. I am working in IT firm where leaving her in a daycare. My hubby is also in IT but currently in US(onsite). So i am also planning  to take a break and move to his place as i am staying alone with my baby since 3.5months and now it has become very difficult to stay anymore here. My baby is too active and never sits at a place for more than a min. I am really surprised how many of you mothers can manage two kids...where handling only one is not leaving any time for myself :). I am happy that i will be with my hubby and will be able to give full time to my daughter but on the other hand feeling low as i will have to leave the job and career in between. But i found many mothers are doing so and njoying this motherhood as much as they can. I hope i will also be able to do that.

This thread is very good for me as i rarly get anytime for myself and chat with friends. So i am very much excited abt it. Lets include me too.... would like to hear more from u guys...

Regards..

Welcome Buji,

So you could make it ...Its nice to c u here. I will call u soon. Even my younger daughter comes back by 11:30am. So whenever u have time, do jot down a few lines and stay connected. I have seen u on chat couple of times but could not catch up as I am quite busy from 6 pm to 9:30 pm.  I have usually seen u online in the evenings  Do write more about  yourself...Gr8 friends awaiting  here..

Hi Madhuu , Which games are u more interested in ? Watching cricket is my passion. I used to follow it religiously till last year. But i haven't watched much this year. I love playing cricket too. Played during my school and college days. Good at bowling and batting too ...But as girls...we weren't encouraged much..else i would have planned to get into women's cricket team !!   I enjoyed playing with boys in school. Sports and that too a career in cricket for girls is not something which goes down well with parents..i find things are changing now...

We must encourage our children in sports if not as a career at least to keep themselves fit...

Hi Pritam,

I was a  bit free today and hence could write at length...when i start writing , it goes on and on.. can't stop ..and by the time i realise..it becomes a long post... then don't feel like deleting...

cheers,

Mickey

Hi Friends,

Now that kids are asleep its chatting time with u all.

Pritam, i myself very keen to do yoga but no motivation. I did a basic course but once i left the course i just stopped practising.  How do u motivate urself to do yoga everyday, do give me some tips....

Gowri, Mumbai is getting back into shape, so right now lots of construction is going around, in terms of wide and good roads, so it is much more chaotic now. Maybe for another 2 years v will have to suffer and then things will be better. Good to know u are good at dancing, i always wanted to learn Bharatnatyam but my family never allowed me to but i am planning to get my daughter learn some form of dance and u never know me, i might too start learning if i get a gud teacher arund here :-) I feel we should have the spirit to live life till v r alive, so keep learning whatever ur heart desires till u r alive and kicking....

Hey smitha, i know the place where u r living its just come up recently(just 2 to 3yrs back if i am not wrong). You know what i never thought that i would get to know such wonderful people through this thread. Can u believe many of us have already connected thrugh FB. I mean just a few days back we didn't have any idea about the exsistence of all these people and today we are connecting with each other every single day. So do keep writing....

Welcome Sthawari...We have interacted couple of  times on parentree on Elaichi for kids post and all about de- worming if u remember..Nice to c u here and know that you are from IT..

Its good to know that u r joining your hubby now. Well, does not matter Sthawari..as mothers we need to do it at some point  of time or the other..your baby is just 1.5 yrs old now.  U can start working once she goes to playschool/pre-school.  I know its difficult to stop working all of a sudden but the joy of being with your daughter and hubby will be more satisfying.

I would only like to advise you to be in touch with your subject and the field u r in . Keep upgrading your skills and stay in touch. In which platform/field have u been working in IT?  If you cut off yourself totally, you will feel lost when you re -join or start ur career.

Enjoy motherhood and also time with ur hubby. Once you start working, you will not get much time for them. You will enjoy this period with your daughter as she will learn to speak and do all sorts of pranks which will keep u busy through out the day...

Hi Ashu, Thanks for those tips. But whats dry avalas ? Is it amala ?

Cheers,
mickey

Hi Bhuji,

welcome to the bond, do tell us more about urself and lets get cracking:-)

Hi sthawari,

Warm welcome to u too. Gud that u r joining ur husband in the US. I know how lonely it can become in a nuclear set up. Yaa, the sad part is u r leaving ur career to be with ur husband but i guess we all have to adjust as per the need of the moment. I am sure you have taken a practical decision to  leave ur job and not an emotional one. I am a housewife and i must say even i go thrugh my bad days but i am happy being a hands on mom. So whatever decision u take has to be the the one that makes you happy because i believe that only when we are happy can we have a happy family life.

I know when u say, how do many of  us handle two kids when u r finding one so difficult to handle, to that i can only say practice makes one perfect :-)

Mickey - I follow cricket (including Ranji matches), Field Hockey (State, National and International), Soccer ( Spanish La Liga, EPL), Tennis (all four Grandslam events). Others sports I follow by reading news papers. I have played soccer and field hockey during school days and represented school teams. I used to play Table Tennis and Tennis when I was in USA. Good to know that you follow cricket and played during your shcool and college days. I really like the way you write and you dont miss out any of us. I am with you to encourage kids to play sports. Since I am from Coorg, I am very much into sports. 80% of the people either play or follow sports expecially hockey as it is one of the traditional game in Coorg.

Ashu - Yes, I love to travel and kind of travel freak. I dont like to sit at home on weekends unless have some official work or something interesting in TV. I traveled to Coorg 6 times from April to May and traveled to Mangalore and Kerala in the same months. I think you would have been to Talacuavery, Bhanamandala, Onkrareshwara temple and the train you are talking about is near Raja seat...Coming to Soccer I support underdogs in each match and support South American teams against European teams.

Pritam:- I travel for both official and pesonal. All major cities on official trip and other cities personal. I am not writing any travel blogs but after seeing your message i feel I should write some. On official trips, I will have work on weekdays and saturday and make it a point to spend sunday in a new place.

Sahiba - Traveling from Mumbai to Kerala by car...wow it would be great experience for you...

All others - It is very nice to get to know each of you and keep writing. I found some time to write lil more as I am waiting for the update from the onsite team.

Cheers

Roshan

Hi Sthawari,

I completely agree with Sahiba...to add on further, I feel that you would never regret your decision of giving more time to you daughter. This is a grooming stage which only a mother can fultill and not a maid or a baby sitter.

Im saying this from my own experience. My daughter spends her day with my maid who is a typical maharashtrian. There is a difference i observe in the pronounciation in the same marathi language that my daughter has learnt from my maid.....hehe....but im just helpless...I too am looking to giving up my job and staying at home with my daughter. Maybe next year when she join Jr KG and studies begin.

Mickey - thanks so much for the warm welcome...you all are so nice. A maid comes in the morning and leaves in the evening who takes care of her. Yes im at peace in office, but my mind is always thinking of what must be happening at home.

I put my daughter in play school right from the age of 1.5 years. So no tension of her adjusting in school. In fact i have told her that when others cry, you give them motherly love and make them quiet. The teacher mentioned this to me...that she actually makes other crying babies stop crying. I feel I have won the race.

So you drop your daughter in school? Hows it going?

Love....Komal

Hi Pritam,

Since you asked about Chess, would like to share a very funny incident that happened with me and my friend.

We were just 11. I learnt Chess and was quite proud that I was knowing to play Chess. I taught the same to my friend too.

One day we started playing Chess. After playing for sometime, her elder brother came and asked, "Hows it going?". Well we were enjoying and told him the same. He started observing the board and asked me, "Where is the King?". Well I said "He is out". His reaction was "*#@&*^#@&^#@)()*((*(*@. How come you are still going on when he is out". We were confused. Because according to us, till the time each of the members are out, the game went on.

LOLLLLLL. Didnt knew what to say, but that day learnt the real Chess, I must say.

I'm sure you all must have had some or the other funny incidences when we were kids. Do share in, so that we can have a blast.

Love and take care....Komal

Being a mother is such a beautiful experience in itself yet we all need that space to have a life of our own that's when i decided to start this thread not knowing if people will respond but i am myself amazed with the way we have been going from strenght to strength. Most of us try and connect to each other on a daily basis. Here's hoping to seeing more of u on this board.Cheers.

Hi Sahiba,

You are right. That is why i am preparing myself for that so that i can njoy my motherhood with out any regret of leaving a job. I too wanted to have two kids before....but now i am afraid....i salute all mothers having more than 1 kid:). sometimes i think how old ladies(our grannys and mothers) could manage and gave birth to so many kids.
