I have done state Syllabus & now am a MBA but my friend who studied in some recidencial school he is a MBA & MFA Graduate & he is earning 5 times more than me is it based on how we study & where we study?????

Much like the socio-economic diversity in India, school education also offers a multifaceted model. Overall, the schooling in India is split in different levels – primary, secondary and senior secondary. The school age begins once the child is three years and is normally completed at the age of sixteen. The secondary and senior secondary level, from grade VIII to XII is the most important in terms of career goals and achievements.

There is often a wide debate on accrediting the best school and the best board governing the secondary and senior secondary education system. The question –What is better for the child, CBSE or ICSE, often becomes serious for the parents, as it is them who have to decide. So far as CBSE or ICSE are concerned, one has to know about their structure and how they function, so as to arrive at any positive conclusion.

Technically speaking CBSE and ICSE cannot be clubbed together, as the former refers to the board and the latter to an examination conducted by a different one. Let us examine the two boards and see what do they offer.

CBSE and CISCE

CBSE or Central Board of Secondary Education is one of the most popular school boards in India. The board is responsible for preparing the syllabus for class 9 to 12th, secondary and senior secondary level. Another important function of CBSE is to conduct examinations based on the prescribed syllabus. It is a recognized board and its syllabus incorporates the national curriculum as well as additional subject matter. The board conducts two examinations – All India Secondary School Examination, AISSE (Class X) and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination, AISSCE (Class XII).

ICSE on the other hand is one of the two examinations conducted by yet another board, CISCE or Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination. It is similar to AISSE conducted by the CBSE. Its (CISCE’s) equivalent for AISSCE is the Indian School Certificate or ISC.

First Dissimilarity – The Medium of Instruction

The first and foremost dissimilarity between the two boards is the medium of instructions approved by the board. Whereas CBSE approves both English and Hindi language as the medium of instructions, CISCE or ICSE does not recommend Hindi.

Regular and Private Candidates

CBSE is affiliated to a large number of schools all over India. The board allows both regular candidates, who study in CBSE schools, as well as private candidates from non-affiliated schools to appear in the exams. Contrary to this, ICSE does not allow a candidate who has not been studying in ICSE affiliated school.

Recognition

Both CBSE and CISCE are self-financing education institutions. However, CBSE is recognized by Indian government and ICSE is not. Although the certificates provided by both of them are globally valid, yet CBSE has a better footing in the subcontinent than ICSE. The ISC by CISCE is recognized by many foreign education systems as equivalent to senior examination or high school. Therefore students qualifying ISC are not required to go for bridge courses while seeking admission in colleges abroad.

Syllabus

The syllabus prepared by CBSE is more suitable for qualifying in various entrance examinations, including the medical and engineering professional exams. The syllabus of ICSE is more detailed and requires the student to remember a lot. CBSE is comparatively easier than ICSE.

Assessments

One more point of distinction between the two boards is the evaluation and assessment of students. In ICSE, internal assessments are vital and practical tests are aggregated with the overall scores. ICSE lays more emphasis on lab work.

Environmental Education

The ICSE has made it compulsory to include environmental education as one of the subjects. CBSE does not ask for the same.

Other than examinations and syllabus, the two boards are engaged in a number of education related activities. Research and development is the secondary initiative taken by CISCE. CBSE also has been engaged in similar exercises, including the research on creating better learning environments.

Very good  comparision by Some14U about CBSE and ICSE.

IGCSE and IB are also recognized in India. They are more accepted  at international level.

I think at school level any board will do. All u need is to  have clear concepts and qualify in the entrance exams and secure a seat in a reputed college/institution.

 Our earnings do depend upon the institution where one has studied ,his or her knowledge ,talent  and communication skills.

The take off level of a candidate passing out from an esteemed universitiy / college/institution  will be definitely high than those  passing out from mediocre colleges.

But it cannot be generalised. There are exceptions too. A person can surely pick up the required skills and can reach heights .They may  earn more  than their counterparts from Premier Institutions.

At the initial level , a Premier and a well known institution can offer a very good launch pad.

However i feel , it does not matter where you come from,social or educational strata
what matters most at the corporates is - What and how you Deliver !

All the apprehensions relating to a mediocre institute/school fade out over a period of time if one is a person of substance. Talent ,dedication, knowledge and time management can  make you a successful business person.

I am not aware of  Karnataka Board as Iam from Hyd .But i feel ,CBSE school would be better for overall development  for your child.

                   I can understand ur confusion becoz as a parent I have gone through the same confusion. What I have understood about CBSC and ICSC  is this ;

1) In ICSC a child needs to know the subject which he is learning thoroughly if he wants to score well in the exams. In short he should grasp the concept well.

In CBSC the question and answers come in a written form which means even if the child doesn't understand the concept, if he by-heart the answers his teachers give him he can score well. That is becoz cbsc has exact syllabus , which icsc doesn't have.

2) Icsc gives more importance to literatue. He will become excellent in english language.

Cbsc gives more importance to maths.

3) The child gets the freedom to choose or avoid maths to a certain extent in the high school level in  icsc.

Cbsc doesn't have that freedom.

4)Icsc is good if he wants to go for higher studies out of I ndia.

Cbsc is good if he wants to score in various tests in india.

5) In icsc learning hindi and the native language is a must.

     Most important thing is if the child is studying in an icsc and if the child is not able to cope up with it he can join cbsc. But in  later stages it is impossible to move the child to icsc from any other syllabuses.

There are a couple of  International schools in the city  which offer IGCSE.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (abbreviated IGCSE ) is an internationally recognized qualification for school students, typically in the 15-16 age group.

 Once a student is armed with an IGCSE education, there is virtually no looking back.

(IGCSE) is  taken at the Class 10 level, similar to the Class 10 examinations of the CBSE and ICSE or the middle years Programme of the IB.

A student who has passed IGCSE is eligible for any +2 level qualification, like Class 12 CBSE/ ICSE or any international pre-university programme, like the IB Diploma, Advanced Placement Diploma (US), and A/AS Level & AICE (UK).

The IGCSE syllabus is broad-based compared to ICSE and has a very strong stress on application-based learning. It lays emphasis on inculcating the spirit of enquiry. It teaches you to teach yourself as opposed to being taught. This approach is what makes it very special, not only for those planning to study abroad, but also for those who define education as the creation of an independent thinking mind.

The IGCSE programmes are recognized around the world and in India. The curriculum, pedagogy and activities focus on international perspectives making students global citizens in the true sense of the word. The curriculum contains five groups from which the students may choose as per their inclinations and talents.

Please discuss more about the Free Education by Govt. Governament is spending lakhs of Cr.s on Child education are we utilizing it??? If what change come in Govt. Free Education, we will face towords Govt. Schools????

Govt. is spending on Food, Books, Uniform Transport etc. etc. why we are not utilizing it??? is it we mesuring them through money????
