Hello Everyone,
I have 2.8 year old daughter. I am frantically looking out for a decent CBSE school with reasonable amenities and good academics. I happen to see some advertisements on Sunshine Montessori School in papers last week. They had mentioned that the school campus is built in the road opposite to Velachery MRTS. They have air conditioned class rooms, tennis court, basket ball court etc etc. They follow CBSE standards and classes will commence for children till 7th grade this year. Admissions are open from March it seems.
Any of your kids studying there? Any idea on the student teacher ratio, fee structure etc?

I am put up in velachery byr pass rd. My child is 11 yrs old, seeking admission in 7 th std. I have received the application form and also saw that other children (for kg grp) the interview was on going. request you to hurry if need admission to this school. The school is under construction near MRTS.
Thanks for the update Tamku!! What is your feedback on this school? Are you planning to enroll your child? I visited the campus near MRTS and it was under construction. The total space for the school seemed to be small. I called the school to check with them regarding application and I might be going in on Monday or Tuesday. I will update you my feedback.
Well before I take a final call i need some feedback as of now I know very lil about the school. May be once you visit you can share your inputs. I ssen the phoots in school thats nesr TCS and in the phots , it showed a big campus. Secondly they do not have sanskrit as my child is learning sanskrit as most CBSE schools. The response from the scholl was so so. Thier interaction seemed very strict (again this cannot be generalised in 1 visit & 1 conversation)

I am planning to put my kids in the new campus coming up in Velachery Sunshine Chennai school. Please pass you r feedback asap since I have to make a decision and pay the fees this week. thanks

I went to the school today to get the application form for my daughter. She will be in nursery as she will complete 3 in June. The staff and teachers were firendly. The infrastructure was good and the fee was also reasonable. Apart from this, few of my colleagues gave good feedback, not a first hand info though!! I found this far better than the one my daughter is currently going to with regards to the amenites and infrastructure. I most probably would be enrolling her end of this month.
Do let me know if you happen to hear/read any other feedback about the school.

hi uma- we are put up near Jains Sasvat in Velachery. We are still confused ... I am also trying for Sishya. but again Sishya is a good 20 mins away
Oh Ok Ramsi!! I might be going ahead with Sunshine. I am particular about distance and hence not looking out for school that are more than 5 to 6 kms from home. Hence the choices are less for me.

Hi Ramsi & Umabala, help me to take decision for my child who will be in 7 th std. You trust that the coaching/teacing will be very good (lets not go by infrastucture). As of now my child goes to about 8-10 kms away and iam not happy by the teaching standards of the current school. any inputs/ suggestion you both have from neighbours etc.

As I had posted earlier, the feedback that I got from few people was that the school is doing good. But then the new school is starting up only this year and most probably the teachers would also be newly recruited be it experienced or freshers. Hence it is too soon to tell about the performance of higher grades. The only positive thing and something that we can hope/rely is that the higher standards would also involve quality education like KG.

umabala - after talking to a few friends and keeping in mind that distance is a priority, I just went ahead and paid the fees today . Here is my personal opinion / pros and cons of the school
Pros:-
near to my place
ratio of 1:24
Facilities like skating, tennis, cricket
reasonable size playground - even schools like Arsha which is very reputed does not have a very big playground
my opinion is they are competing with schools like Abacus and Navadisha already in this area which are both ICSE and this will be CBSE right from Ist grade. So I felt they will really try their best to establish the school.
Cons:- risk involved is new school - so we do not know way of teaching etc. But then any school depends on the teachers. if the teachers are good, the school will not fail. that only time can tell.
Medium sized playground - can't play soccer here!

I would also most probably pay the fee this week. I am not left with many choices, anyways!! I guess both our residences are in close proximity. By the way, which std have you enrolled your kids?

Thx for the suggestions. based on inputs frm ramsi - I think I can take a chance and admit my chil also here. I am not left with many options now.
But I have made my mind to change the school for sure. Atlease the child will not be travelling long as I am put up in velachery.
my child will be in first batch and hope the scholl will definate concentrate on good results.

It would be nice to meet you. But i need to still take a final call on this. Talk to my family. You have gone through the application T&C.? Are you ok with all the terms?.Please let me know.
I am joining my kid for the Pre-Kg environment and hence I need not worry on TC stuff. As said earlier, I am ok with what I have seen and heard, but then, we need to wait and watch for the actual performance. Anyways, there are not much choices left for me to ponder over. I am totally against kids travelling more than 5 or 6 kms to school keeping in mind the evergrowing traffic and time of travel.
Let me know your decision and if possible we shall meet up.
I would be going to pay the fee on Thursday most probably.

I have enrolled my daughter in Sunshine School. Hope the school turns out to be good as promised and I need not regret later for my decision. Keeping my fingers crossed!!
Dont worry Uma. Whats the worst case? We'll have to change schools if it does not do well and with the amount of new schools coming up in OMR, we'll have a lot of choices later. But it may not come to that and my feeling is they will really try their best..
Yes Ramsi, I am also hoping that they would do well. I liked the infrastructure. It was much bigger than the one my daughter is currently going to. And the student teacher ratio was also good.
