Hello All,

Does anybody know about the school - Hari Shree Vidyalayam at R.A Puram.

Can you please let me know the plus and minus of this school. It would be of great help to me, since I am planning to put my 3yr old son there. I am put up at Adyar.

If there are some parents, whose son/daughter is studying there - I would like to talk to you to get your feedback. Pls let me know your contact number.

Thanks a lot for your guidance.

Would appreciate a fast response, since I have to make a decision in a day or two. Thanks.

Hi,

I just happened to read this email of yours.

My sons are studying in Hari shree vidyalayam in R.A. Puram

Its  a ICSE school with montessori enviroinment till 1st Standard. My sons are in 1st standard. Its a very nice school with student teacher ratio being 12:2,ie for every 12 kids there are 2 teachers and one ayyamma.

The school is really spic and span. The whole atmosphere will be relaxed and calm. The school conducts regular workshops on parenting and invoves the parents in all their activities. The are very spiritual in nature. They follow the concepts of Swami Dayananda Saraswathy.

The morning snacks are provided which are really nutritious and healthy. The uniforms are pyjama kurtha for boys and pavadais for girls. Its a modern cum ethinic traditional school. They address the teachers as acharyas and use chowkis and mats as against desk and chairs in other schools.

There are regular monthly educative field trips for students based on the subjects they learn..They conduct everyday sessions on  yoga, music, dance, nature club and art and craft club. They environment is very easy going and also disciplined and there is more fun for the students than the usual pressure and tension to learn their syllabus. It is a rich school with modern ammenities like AudioVisual room, computer lab, language and phoenetics lab, science lab, maths lab and the like.

Hi Sangeetha,

Many thanks for your valuable inputs. It's so pleasing and constructive to hear such a positive feedback. I indeed, went through the admission process and have paid the fees for my son(Arjuun). I think, the ratio of 12:2 is very encouraging and not many schools provide that kind of impetus.

How is the accessability to the teachers and principal? Pls let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks again for all your help and guidance.

Kind Regards,Bharath S

Hello sir,

Thank you for the regards. Glad to hear that Arjun is joinning our Hari shree Group. As you have questioned regarding the accessibility to teachers and principal, i would like to say its no big deal over here. We can very well meet them with an appointment, between the  timmings mentioned in the school diary. They are very friendly, humble and down to earth type.

There is lots of parent involvement in all the school activities. There are volunteer forms available in the school office for the parents also.

The parent -teacher interaction will be sufficiently more in regard to your child's progress. As your son is going to be in LKG,  there is a lot of fun waiting for you couples. One of you parent should assist the child to school the whole year. This is done to help the child ween off from the parent in a very smooth manner. Parents will undergo side by side classes on parenting, yoga ,music, art&craft, vedic heritage, slokas and bhagvad gita to be specific.

With kind regards,

Sangeetha,

Hi,

It would be a good experince. They will basically interact with the kid to see, how the kid is responding to certain questions(e.g who is the king of forest, fruits that are coloured in green) and the environment. They will also have a talk with you, to understand what you are looking for from their school of thought?

Are you going in for a LKG admission for your kid?

Regards,

Bharath S

Hi,

I know couple of kids studying there and they are happy and so are the parents. Apparently the culture is good and they treat the kids with a lot of respect.

Cheers,

Uma

Hi all,

My son is completing 5 yrs on 21 Apr & he has been promoted to 1st Std in his present school i.e. The Groove School at Eldams Road ( Provisional Affiliation to ICSE board)

We are tring for his admission again to UKG to Vidya Mandir Mylapore just because his age will be a problem when he goes for his 10th Bd exams. we have got an admission in National Public School at Gopalapuram & have taken extension to complete the procedures till 22nd coz t'row we have his entrance exam at Vidya Mandir for UKG.

we are really confused what to do next in case we do not get Vidyamandir admissions. should we make him continue in his present school or admit him in NPS or try next year again in vidyamandir. only we can make him repeat the class now at this age, after which it'll be difficult to do so coz it may take a toll on him mentally. can any one tell me howz NPS ? how diffucult it is to get admisions at Vidyamandir? is it right for us to make him repeat UKG or let him continue in the same class in same school or different school.

Thanks

Hi Bharat,

Is the non-refundable deposit a one time payment ? And is the fee structure of 8k per term the same for all classes?

Aven.

Hi Aven,

The non-refundable deposit is a 1 time payment. I think, the fee structure is more or less the same for all the junior classes. Don't know about the senior classes.

Bharath / Any parent whose child is now in Harishree

Any feedback about the school would be appreciated. How is the education culture, do they give homeworks, do they have monthly tests or  Do they follow the standard method of conducting Unit tests, semesters, annual exams or a different approach?

Also, how many students per class?

I am thinking of enrolling my sons(4.5 and 2.5) for UKG and Pre-kg at Harishree. Does Harishree have a pre-kg program?

Thanks,

Regards

 Hello everybody,

I am new to this website and forum and came across this discussion while looking out for school admission for my son. We are currently based at dubai and are planning to move to chennai in the near future. He is currently in grade I and we are insearch of  a school which would admit him middle of the term.

I am much impressed by the positive feedback about the school and would also like to have more inputs from the parents of grade I kids.

We prefer this school as we live in ra puram. Hope they would be kind enough to admit my kid at this juncture.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Usha

Hi Sangeetha/ Bharat/ Anyone whose kid is in Harishree

Do you know the age criterion/cut off date for admission to LKG? As my daughter was born on Dec 28, and most schools insist on completing 3 1/2 as of June 1st for LKG, she will be short of 28 days for the age limit.  How about Hari shree ? What is the date and are they strict about it?

And, do they have any restrriction on the locality? I reside in Kodambakkam. Will they consider us or preference is given to a nearby locality? Do they have transport facility for Kodambakkam ? (the website only says "certain routes" and does not specify any location).  Anyone from Kodambakkam whose kid is studying in Hari Shree?

Request any of you who happen to know these details to post here. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Much Thanks

Lavanya

Please other parents too whose kids are going from June, please write in your feedback.

Hi mousumi

I still do not have the answers to these questions. I am planning to make a visit on Nov 2nd to the school and will update you regarding the same here.

As for your last question, school generally starts in June for LKG. And I heard that you (as in parents with the kid) will be called for an interactive session prior to admission, though am not very sure of the interview per say.
