playschool necessary? - Page 1

Hi all,

My daughter is 22 months. Most people I know have alaready enrolled their kids of similar ages into playschools. Not to miss out on this, I also started my survey and even finalized tree house playschool in karve nagar pune. 

However, now both me & my husband have gotten thinking whether really we need to enroll her into playschool just because others are doing it? We feel this is the age for free play and enjoying, which we can do at home. Why burden her unnecessarily with school at such a small age. We feel, we can get her into nursery next year when she is 2.5 yrs.

However, i am a bit worried also , that she might not get adjusted easily in nursery next year if we dont put heri n playschool this year.

Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

I was under the same dilemma when my son was of that age. However, I opted not to send him to playgroup and instead he started going to nursery at 2.5 years of age. He did take some time to settle, however most of the kids were taking time to settle. After a month he was so happy to go to school that every morning he used to look forward to go to school.

Secondly if you child has enough company of his age group at home (neighbour kids)then playschool is not at all required. It if for those children who have no company at home and therefore get some kids company while they are at school.

Did you enrol your son in a nursery attached to a school? If so, did u face any difficulty getting admission? Do schools conduct interviews for admission in nursery?

Well, my son is going to WWW which is a full fledged school till 10th Std. Yes, interview was conducted. It was mostly parent's interview than child and he easily got admission.
