Hi All,

I need some urgent advice... My 3.6yrs old daughter was diagnosed with Idiopathic Nephrotic Syndrome in the month of Jan after which she was on a 3 month course of steroid. After that , after a gap of only 3 weeks, it got relapsed.. My peadiatrician said that in 99% cases it relapses 3-4 times... I send her reports to a nephrologist in London who said that he was not happy with her treatment as her kidney biopsy was not done...

My peadiatrician says that biopsy is not required as she is responding to the treatment and her dianosis is very clear...London's nephrologist says that we cannot know the root cause till the time biopsy is done , we are just treating the symptoms not the root cause

Now am leaving for US and have taken appointment with doctors over there... Am sure they would also want her biopsy done.. What should I do....

Shall I get her Biopsy done or go by my peads  advice not to get it done...

I dont want my child to undergo this biopsy procedure unless n untill its absolutely necessary...

Does anybody on this forum have any idea about this thing... Pl help...

hi

My niece had a kidney failure at 12 years, The doctors here do not recommend biopsy  , as the procedure itself may damage the kidneys..at such a small age. We also contact 2-3 specialist here.

if you are anyway going to the US, wait for their advice to proceed further.

Wishing your kid a quick recovery.

hi,

What the London Nephrologist is said about biopsy test is true. You must get it done if doctors in US also advised to undergo a needle biopsy test.

wishing your child recover soon.
