Hi,

My kid is 3 months old and he is not comfortable due to constipation. He looks very tired.

Ped has given "Aristozyme drops", i gave for 2 days, but its not very effective and he said, constipation may be due to lack of milk fed (breastfed completely). So, he suggested to include Nan Pro1.

I am worried, if breast milk and formula together will again cause problem. Firstly, I want to get rid of constipation before giving formula.

He has passed stool, 4 days back and he is stressing to pass but could nt. Ped says, even if 1 week also not an issue. But my son struggles a lot.

Please provide me suggestions on this.

Regards.

hi Chinnu, If your baby is completely on BM, then try to include enough water and fibre in ur diet. that will help him also.

Hey

if he is struggling a lot then try to put some soap means take some in hand and put water make a form and take little bit and put it in that place where potty comes.don't put deep ,little bit inside.

or have some ajwin(vaamu) seed and crushed with mouth and blow that air near his face gentle. He will breath that air and immediatly he will get potty

apart from this, daily take some ajwin seeds along with  your diet. Give woodwards gripe water daily to your baby.It will help babies tummy.

good suggestions by others here :)

if you give warm compress on his tummy, it will also relieve his constipation. when my son was 3 months old, he too had severe constipation problem. his doc told me to give him lukewarm water frequently. i also gave wax tubes applications once a week on doc's recommendation, for 1 month, to prevent fissures/piles..when you are giving him massage, give strokes starting from neck and go till butts..also, hold his legs in your hands and help him cycle lying down..it helps in pressing down the stools

chinnu, i faced the same problem. instead of going to allopathy, my mom-in-law suggested MUGHLI JANAM GUTTI.   Initially i was reluctant as doctor dont prescribe that but when i tried it really worked. now my son is 2.5 yr old. i stil give him when he is suffering fron cold, cough, constipation.

one spoon of ghutti with one spoon of honey, when cold and cough

one spoon of ghutti with mild warm water, when constipation or nausea/vomiting

a very small pinch of sitopladi churna,a very small pinch of vasavlaeh with one spoon of honey, when severe cough(3-4 times a day)

may this help

this problem ws quite extreme in my son's case...he wud be highly constipated n cranky bcos of tis.till e reached 3 yrs n i kept askn my pediatrician to gv mediciness...he calmly askd me to change his diet instead..i included more fruits..veggies....liquids.within a week te problem reduced....this ws when he ws 3 yr old...now not only is te problem gone...my son also njoys having fruits sooo much he cud b witout lunch for a day but nt without his dossage of fruits....

wat i feel is tat dependence on medicines is a shortcut..not a longterm solution...

Sorry to rule out what others have suggested here..but if the baby is exclusively breast fed then there is a very remote chance of himher getting constipated. Its OK if he pass motion once in even 30days. While passing motion he will make strange noise that doesnt mean he is struggling. Make sure that the stool is semi solid consistency and not too tight and thick. My daughter is 2months old and she passes once a week. Even my elder daughter also did the same and perfectly alright. Pls refrain from giving medicines.

this is due to less feed (less liquid)... start with formula and breastfeed him (milk, formula, water) as much as u can, nothing happens with breat feed/ formula together...he will be relieved from consitipation issue. (Dexolac formula milk too gud may u can check with ur paediatrician once)

Thanks,

We have settled in Johannesburg and have a 2.7 year old son. My wife has been moving in between Joburg and Pune all the time.

what I have observed is my son doesn't Mix and mingle well with his same age kids and gets very scared even if a kid approaches him. I find this very odd

as he likes to play only with his parents. We have been staying at a complex which doesn't have much kids and with my busy routine I don’t get much time to

my family to the ones who have kids. we also speak different languages as I am a Marathi and my wife is Gujju plus all speak English and he gets to hear Hindi as well

he understand all the languages but picks up words from all the 4 languages :) He tries to speak a lot but still can't frame proper sensible sentences.

Please advise on what should be done for his behaviour.

Regards,

at the age of 2.7, i wouldnt worry too much about language development in a multilingual environment. i would definitely keep an eye on speech development and i would definitely talk a lot to the child to enhance his language, though.

it seems to me that your child feels a little left out, since you and your wife are quite busy in your hectic schedules. i havent quite clearly understood from your post whether you have shifted recently or long back. i am asking because shifting bases also puts a lot of stress on children. they find it difficult to verbalize it. but the loss of familiarity scares them.

about not mingling up with other kids, children first want to create a comfort zone around them and only then let others enter that zone or let themselves step out, for moments of friendship. if your child feels unsettled at home or in the new place, he will take some more time to create that zone and mingle up. give him that extra time.

Thanks a lot aanchal,

We have been here for 5 years now. Out of his 2.7 years , my wife and my son must

have stayed in Joburg and Pune half - half..

I have decided to take a break and come to India in order for me to settle them in the school in Pune as i dont want them to suffer because of my routine.

thanks again aanchal for your valuable advise and I will keep on chatitng to you.

Regards,

Hi Chinnu

Not sure if your baby's problem has been resolved. Is he fine now?

Else you could use a combination of natural hom eremedies rather than depending on Allopathi medicines.  Few of which worked for my baby are

1. Water boild with Dry grapes, cooled, filtered and fed

2. Vasambu (dried sweet flag) - Hold and burn one end of the stick in a oil lamp (not gas stove); Feed a pinch of ash to the baby mixed in water or mother's milk. This is a very effective one and has always worked for constipation and gas problems.
