Fancy dress ideas - Page 1

Hi,

My 4.5 yr old son has fancy dress competition in school this weekend. The theme is 'monsoon'. Can anyone suggest some ideas, as I'm absolutely blank on this ?

All i can think of right now is to make the cloud and rain.  On an umbrella, stick layers of cotton and cover the top surface. Cut some shapes of  water drop from construction paper. Punch holes on them and tie the string. now make 15 to 20 chains of water drops (each chain with  5 to 7 drops).  From the inside and on the rim of the umbrella, hang these chains to show cloud and rain. Each water drop can be painted in blue and you can also use the glitters on them. 

Another option is to cover the umbrella with cotton as said before and hang colored ribbons in proper order  (VIBGYOR) to form rainbow and cloud.

In addition to Roshmom's idea of umbrella , you could also make your  son wear a chart shirt cut-out in the shape of water droplet and paint it in the shades of blue..... You can make a couple of  paper boats and attach it to his costume or hang from umbrella coz  kids love to play with paper boats...

Make him wear rain boots or shoes.

Make cut outs of steaming hot tea/milk/drink of your choice n  chat/pakoras too...... U can hang all these cut outs  with strings from umbrella  and tell  him  to say 4 to 5 good lines on  what he feels about Monsoon...Make him confident enough to move around in front of audience by swinging his umbrella...

Fancy dress is not only about dressing but also to test how the child carries himself / herself in that attire ......
