my son is 2.2 yr old but cant talk. just now he started mama papa like words...he can understand everything butcant talk...what can i do to make him talk... |

speech delay has become an increasing problem in many households.( its happening due to many reasons, discussing which is beyond the scope of this post. )however, dont worry too much if there is speech delay only.. many kids speak late these days and by the completion of 3rd year, they are generally fine. however, if there are other issues present along with speech delay, then you may need to be more careful.these other issues can be: - lack of socialization skills
- lack of interpersonal skills
- inappropriate use of toys
- fixation/obsession with certain objects/parts of objects
- typical behaviorism/mannerism
- delayed milestones in other areas like sitting, standing,walking,eating etc
- inability to follow simple instructions
- lack of or inappropriate use of non-verbal communication
- poor gait and/or visual motor coordination
- presence of some phobia/nail biting/ biting/ bedwetting
- excessive tantrums
