Hi Chinnu

Not sure if your baby's problem has been resolved. Is he fine now?

Else you could use a combination of natural hom eremedies rather than depending on Allopathi medicines. Few of which worked for my baby are

1. Water boild with Dry grapes, cooled, filtered and fed

2. Vasambu (dried sweet flag) - Hold and burn one end of the stick in a oil lamp (not gas stove); Feed a pinch of ash to the baby mixed in water or mother's milk. This is a very effective one and has always worked for constipation and gas problems.

at the age of 2.7, i wouldnt worry too much about language development in a multilingual environment. i would definitely keep an eye on speech development and i would definitely talk a lot to the child to enhance his language, though.

it seems to me that your child feels a little left out, since you and your wife are quite busy in your hectic schedules. i havent quite clearly understood from your post whether you have shifted recently or long back. i am asking because shifting bases also puts a lot of stress on children. they find it difficult to verbalize it. but the loss of familiarity scares them.

about not mingling up with other kids, children first want to create a comfort zone around them and only then let others enter that zone or let themselves step out, for moments of friendship. if your child feels unsettled at home or in the new place, he will take some more time to create that zone and mingle up. give him that extra time.

8.5 month old not sitting up yet.

Hi ladies,

I am new to this group. I have a 8.5 month old son who is not sitting up (getting up from a lying position on his own) yet. He can sit and play if i put him in a sitting position but he doesnot get up on his own. We consulted a doc yesterday and she said his muscle tone is good, he will do it on his own. However, he is showing no inclination to sit up on his own, he is perfectly happy to lie down and keep playing.

I am beginning to worry. What can i do to encourage him? What have been other mommys' experience?

Please feel free to give any advice / suggestions.

Thanks, Bhawna

Is this constipation?

hi

I have a 4 month old daughter. till last week she has been passing her stools nomally around once a day or 2 days. She is on breast milk. On 2nd and 3rd aug i gave her a spoon of moong dal water. since 3rd she has not passed her stools.

I have checked a lot of websites and book, they talk of constipation. the symptoms of which say - hard stools, reddish ness, child irritability.

But my daughter has none of that. She has not passed any stools so i really dont know. but she looks happy, she is feeding regularly, passing urine regularly, cooing smiling talking every thing that you can call normal. only passing gas which really smells bad :-).... So is she really constipated???

The doc said, as she is so normal i should not worry. Only i should be giving her bonnisan morning evening 1 ml each time. and only if we find her in pain or irritated, we should get her to the clinic. That actually relieved me.

MIL is worried and has been giving numerous suggestions. As per her, i have also given my daughter - water soaked with black raisins. She also said to insert a little tip with castor oil in her anus. This is something that i am really reluctant. I am sure it wil hurt my litle one and dont want to do it unless it is really necessary.

My lil one gets bonnisan, raisin water along with bal gutti as remedy for the problem which i dont know if it is really a problem.

Any suggestions you friends have please share. As far as my diet goes, I am eating and all vegetables and am on calcium supplements. I started taking protein supplement as well around 10 days back. I read somewhere that high protein can cause baby constipation. so i have stopped that today. Lets see.

Please share if you have any answers. Thanks.

Montair granules for a 2 month old baby!

Hello All,

My baby, who is 2 months old is suffering from cough and cold from a week. I did some home remedies, but then they didn't work out, so I took him to doctor on last Wednesday.

She prescribed him Bricanyl syrup and Nasoclear drops. She asked me to stop powdering him, bathing him with milk and daal powder, no agarbati smell for him. Dust precaution should be taken etc.

But this didn't help my baby. He coughs incessantly while drinking milk. I am not breastfeeding him, but giving him bottle. If he drinks 30 ml milk, he coughs around 15-20 times and then mucus and milk comes out from his nose and mouth. I couldn't bear to see him in that state so took him to the doctor again on Saturday. She asked me to nebulize him for 3 days with Asthalin which I did and I see no changes in his coughing bout while drinking milk from the bottle.

She has also written Montair granules as the last resort in the prescription. I am taking him to the doctor today again as there is zero improvement in my baby's state.

Wanted to know if anyone of you has any idea about the same. I am very worried and fear whether my baby has wheezing/asthama problem so early. He was fine for first 2 months and this cough and cold developed suddenly and is taking a toll on his health and seeing him in this state leaves me in tears and makes me feel helpless.

Any pointers for this will help me a lot!
