A mathematics workshop for children
What is it?
Parentree and Ignite Minds are bringing children between 7 and 12 years, a workshop to teach mathematics skills to children in a way they will love.
Who should attend?
Children between the ages of 7 to 12 can attend. There will be two groups based on age 7-9 years and 10-12 years
What will children learn?
1. Finding & creating patterns
2. Calendar puzzles
3. Magic squares
4. Drawing geometrical shapes (Tangrams)
5. Short cuts and proofs
6. Creating new puzzles
7. Interesting events in Mathematicians lives
8. Fun Mathematics Quiz
9. Spotting Maths in things around us
10. Maths games
At the end of the workshop, a "Tips Sheet" on sharpening the participating children's math skills will be given to the parents of the participants.

What is it?
Parentree and Ignite Minds are bringing parents a workshop focused on true learning. Experts in the field of education will discus and share their tried and tested techniques for inspiring true learning in children across maths, science and languages.
Who should attend?
Parents who want to actively help their children learn. This workshop will be most appropriate for parents with children in the ages of 3 to 10 years.
What will parents learn?
1. Beyond Homework
Learn how to create learning opportunities in every moment of the day, in everything. By understanding these opportunities you can help your child "learn to learn".
2. Learning with Understanding
Learn the right approach to maths, science, and languages and helpyour child learn these subjects with interest and ease

Learn how to tackle situations where your children show a decline or a loss of interest in academics. Know how to identify the situation and the remedies that will work.

Who are the experts running the workshop?
G Rajendran, Educationist
Rajendran believes that for a child to learn anything, it must first become a need for the child. Knowledge acquisition becomes smooth when the experience is real, need-based and meaningful to the child. He has been overseeing the creation of a whole range of products and services based on constructivist pedagogy (enabling children to construct knowledge themselves).
In his career as an educationist, he has trained over 28000 teachers in Kerala. Over the last 3 years, several schools and thousands of teachers have also benefited from his training. For many years, Rajendran was a member of the core panel that sets the curriculum for schools in Kerala as well as that of the apex training body in the state.
Rajendran was an invited speaker at the prestigious TEDx Annual Conference at IIT Madras on October 10, 2010.
He is a core member of Ignite Minds. He researches and teaches and currently lives in Kozhipparai, Palakkad, Kerala
N Sriram, Founder of Ignite Minds
A Reuter Fellow at the University of Oxford, Sriram was initially trained in Business Journalism at the Times Research Foundation, New Delhi. He has worked in senior editorial positions with leading business publications such as The Economic Times, BusinessWorld and Asian Venture Capital Journal (Hong Kong).Sriram relocated to Chennai from Mumbai in 2006, to pursue his interests in the field of education. He works as a consultant with a variety of organisations including ICICI Bank, ExcelEdit and Venture Intelligence.
Sriram teaches at The School KFI, Chennai as a resource person. He also teaches history, economics and business studies to students taking IGCSE (Cambridge) examinations.
Sriram has been working very actively with several schools and teachers in Tamilnadu to train them on learning techniques to be used with young children.
A Jalaludeen, Special Educator and Education Consultant
A special educator of repute with over 38 years of standing, Jalaludeen has been instrumental in the setting up of a number of institutions in Chennai including the Pathway Centre for Speech, Communication and Learning Disorders; BVSN Murthy Centre for Special Children; "Reading" Home for the Handicapped in Chengelpet; WAC Remedial Centre, Kalpakkam besides many others. He was given the Rotary Club of Madras West 1985 Award for "his dedicated efforts to break the barriers for children with Learning Disabilities".
Jalaludeen has written a number of articles in newspapers and magazine on themes close to his heart. He has also participated in a number of teacher training workshops.
V L Hamsamalini, Educator
Hamsamalini is a core member of the Ignite Minds team. She works with Rajendran in preparation of Maths learning content for parents and children. She also works as a consultant to the Silver & Springs School in Mandaveli, Chennai.
A University rank holder in Mathematics in masters program, Hamsa worked as a software programmer for a short while before moving to education. As a team-member of Zeus Technosystems (Mumbai), Hamsa prepared teacher guides for schools in the US.
