Jun 29, 2012 8:43 PM Share

firstly i want to know whether is it good for the kids of class 1 to keep them at school for 7 hours.if they spent this much time at school then when they will take rest, play and study at home.as we all know that play is an essential part of their life.we can not fully depend on the school for child education they have to study at home too . then when they will do so.

I agree...Kids of Class I dont need this kind of pressure...There is drop in my daughter's stamina because of this schedule....over the 7 hours, there is Homework..thier food schedule has taken a beating....my daughter is now studying in DPS nacharam...can anybody please suggest a school near Tarnaka / ECIL, which doesnot have this kind of schedule. I wish she could be home by 2.30...

I very much agree for that but all the scholls are the same way, studying is not only the life. They have to see & learn from the real life and they need to spend good amount of time outside, just with friends and have fun. I believe that's life.
Studying is not only the life, it is just part of the life. One should know how to be independent, can handle things independently, knowing to act based on the circustances.

no i didnt mean that overall development can take place only at school.
what i meant was that since syllabus is very tough these days, if school is not good enough, children's all round development will be compromised as they will be too burdened by reading writing all the time.
of course the main responsibility of all round development lies with the parents by maintaining a good time table. but many times, by including sports, music, arts into our kids' daily schedule, we might end up over pressurizing them.
thats why i said the role of school is critical. if the school is offering overall development, we may be able to give our kids plenty of free time to play after school hours, which wouldnt happen if they have to run around going to various classes after school hours.

does you mean that over all development of a child is circumcised to school only, and this can be done only by keeping the students for long time at school.no i don't agree to this.all types of intelligence can be aqpplied to a child by followingb proper time-table as we have six working days in a week.

the amount of information to be shared with children has gone much higher than what it used to be when we were kids. a lot has to be taught. thats why the role of schools is so critical. as the schools have to cater to not only cognitive but overall development.
there are many schools that follow multiple intelligence theories and offer sports, drama, arts, gym, aerobics, music, dance, craft, as a part of main curriculum besides academic subjects.
so i guess, its all about finding a good school for your child and continuing to believe in the importance of overall development, as you rightly pointed out
