I will grateful for any feedback from the parents who have their children in Good Shepherd International School in Ooty..thanks
it is a good school. i have a student of mine came from good shephered here in canada and he told me his experience is good.
Did u get any feedback other than the mails. I am also looking for lot of feedback as this is the first time we are sending our child to
Good shepherd boarding. Hearsay feedback has been excellent
Thank you for the great feedback. It was pointed, frank and forthright. It helps in taking a decision. Your candid colour on the incident does ring a few notes.
I would take the punishment as Positive for whatever the nature of the violation, however the degree of humiliation or character asassination has to be avoided.
On a different note, its a one sided version, and who would know what ther rules and regulations clarified before hand.
All the above statements are just a normal afterthought, but I do appreciate that incident is a clear cut picture to decide on admiiting our child .
I am HIGHLY impressed with some other feed back I have been constanly getting from People. I am sending chld there.,
Can you tell me your expereince? I am thinking of sending my kid but not sure. How is the experience and how is the security and monitoring?
hai everybody ,Iam goodshepherd parent my son is studying there, the school is too good, mainly they take care the little ones very well, the parents communication with the school is also good, if we have any problem regarding studies or anything else if we mail them their response is too good ,mainly my son love the school very much
I am thinking of putting my 10 yr old daughter in Good Shepherd International School, Ooty. I would appreciate your detailed comments on if it is worth taking this shift, how 'international' is this international school, from which all states/countries the children come and the safety and discipline in the school.
Interestingly, apart from this site, I could not find ANY review on this school in any other site.
Your early comments would be really helpful for me to arrive at some decision.
I have my two children in class VIII and VI in GSIS. I find the school very good and my children are doing well. When it comes to safety and monitoring, I think the school is one of the best. GSIS monitors childrens' activities very closely and provide all kinds of support for their overall development. Infact I found the school providing a much higher level of monitoring than I had expected which greatly helped me to arrive at the decision of putting my children there.
Another concern of mine was the provision of medical facilities in the school, and I am very happy that medical/ vaccination records etc are always kept updated and they update you on each and every little thing.
Food is excellent and the dormitories are comfortable enough with a dorm parent and two full-time helpers in each dormitory.
They have children from all over the world, I think around 20/21 countries, mostly NRIs and few Thai students from Thailand, but not a single teacher belonging to any other nationalities than Indian.
So far we do not have any complaints, the school is very organised in every aspect and provides all the facilities to the children and more importantly, they keep the children occupied leaving them with very little to miss home and the parents which helped my kids a lot in their initial days in the school.
If you are really keen to send your daughter to a boarding school then GSIS is one of the best options!! You will miss her terribly but apart from that you do not have to worry about other things!!! school really takes care of them.
All the best!
Really appreciate your detailed reply. Thanks !
May I ask if your children are son/daughter ? Since how many years are they studying there ?
If and when I decide to proceed with this school, I am sure I would have quite a few specifics to know which only parents of children studying in the school can clarify. For this reason, do you mind providing your personal mail id so that we can have a 1-1 communication ? Mine is firstname.lastname@example.org.
I was looking for a good boarding school for my daughter, so I sent my son to Good Shephered, though it was for 11th and 12th Standard. The guinea peg test is succesfull. I am impressed with the regimented way of teaching, overall development of the child through various activities etc..The infrastructure provided is world class. There may be some things desired, which the school is always open to discuss and provide, upgrade and also initiate. The only complaint I have against the school is they dont give a Diwali break to the kids. Its a major festival across India, starting from Karnataka to the Himalayas..
The school is truly world class, with every amenity and is open to accept change, even if belatedly. You will not regret sending your child there, even if it may be expensive. I am sending my daughter to the school from 7th Standard, 2012 onwards.
Thanks, KIRTKART. Very useful information.
A general thought on my mind is about the weather in Ooty. Though I haven't been there ever, I know it is quite a cold place and thereby may give rise to/aggravate any breathing related health issues. Wondering if anyone has inputs on this aspect.
