Hi All - I am a first timer to this forum. Will appreciate your help and guidance. My son was born on Dec 25, 2007. He has completed nursery and will now start junior KG in June 2011. He is the youngest kid in his class and all other children are much older than him. He is a little behind some of the older kids in sports, colouring, recitation or other school activities. Can you advise what is the right age to be in junior KG and whether this age difference will matter even as he progresses to higher classes ? Someone advised me that once the children are over 7 years old these age differences do not matter ...Please advise.

I think the right age for junior kg would be about 3.5 to 4 years. By then the child is quite independent and lot more vocal about his or her thoughts and wishes. I think it is better if the child is in the elder lot rather than amongst the younger students due to the difference in maturity. Finally, I dont think a year here and there matters in the long run anyways so long as he or she enjoys school rather than getting bogged down and frustrated if unable to cope with the work load in school.
