I will be shifting to powai soon - to nahar's or lake homes or somewhere near that area soon. My daughter is 3 years old and instead of putting her in some playgroup I would llike to directly put her in a CBSE or ICSE formal school. Will this be possible? Which are the good schools in and around Powai - possible one with day care also?
there are few schools like -
Bombay Scottish - from Jr KG, ICSE
Hirnandani Foundation school, Nursery, ICSE
SM Shetty - IGCSE & MB
The admission forms are already out. You may peronally visit to check your options
Thanks Manzie. Will be checking out these options.
I stay in Nahar and hence wish to share a bit of information with you.
Hiranandani Foundation School is good, but the fees is hefty and they give preference to kids who live in Hiranandani.
Bombay Scottish and Gopal SHarma(ICSE) are supposed to be very good.Getting admission into Bombay Scottish can be a bit troublesome as they have many rules and preferences. Also, the staff there don't entertain queries much.
SM Shetty is okay.A new school in the vicinity called Prime Academy (ICSE) is gaining favourable reviews. They provide everything ranging from food, uniform, books etc to the kids. The fees is high, but many kids are getting enrolled there. So,it must be worth it.
If you don't mind the distance, then you can opt for schools like Podar,Garodia International,St.Xavier's etc.Podar and Garodia are excellent schools with very good reputation.Their school buses frequent Nahar and Lake Homes area.
If you want a day care centre too, then you'll have to opt for pre-schools like Kangaroo Kids in Raheja Vihar near Nahar. Good Luck and Welcome to Powai.
Thanks! Will check out this school. Was enquiring frm other sources also abt these schools. Gopal Sharma also seems to be just ok. Will be freezing the school in 2 days.
By the way how is Nahar. It seems to be very remote and does not have access to many amenities. Whats ur email id? Wil drop an email to u.
Bye and cya
Gopal Sharma caters to both SSC and ICSE syllabus.Of tht,the ICSE section is supposed to be good. Many of my frnds' kids go there and they are quite happy with the school. The fees is also reasonable there.Good Luck with your choice.
As regards to Nahar,it is strategically located and is easily accessible from key areas like Ghatkopar,Hiranandani,BKC,Airport etc.You get plenty of autos and taxi cabs too in case you don't have your own car. The inside of the complexes (especially the new ones) are very pretty and well-maintained.The security system is good and water and power supply is not a problem. On the downside, this place is very dusty and the roads are pathetic bcoz of the road and building construction work going on. Once the work gets over(it may take one or two years ),this place will be a beauty with all amenities at hand. They have a shopping mall, medical complex, rubberised roads, temple and Ryan International School(one of the best in Mumbai) coming up in the area.Once all tht happens, this wud be one of the most enviable residential areas in Powai and the property prices will sky-rocket.
So,if you are planning to buy a flat here,be assured,it will be a good investment.
If you post your email id,I will put in a mail to you.Take care and bye for now :-)
I follwed the discusussion and found it quite helpful. I am planning to put my kid in sr KG in a ICSE school near powai... As both Bombay Scottish and Hiranandani are quite uncertain options because of their strict criteria, please let me know by when the school in Nahar will be ready, and whether only Nahar residents will get admission there. Thanks in advance.
Actually I am also in search of good school in this area. Can u tell which school finally you have decided. I am trying in Bombay scottish and gopal sharma. I need feed back on Gopal Sharma as scottish admission is uncertain till april.
I stay in Marol and i am looking out for some good ICSE level schools nearby for my girl....went through many schools online but of hardly any use....plz if u can suggest me some schools nearby which are good in studies and more importantly in activities.....
Can anyone please let me know, when will the school in Nahar be operational and will it be a CBSE or ICSE school. do they reserve seats for Nahar residents only?
Thanks! Found this thread of discussion very useful! Am moving to Nahar next month and looking for good schools for my son (class 2). Hiranandani is out (since they don't entertain admission requests by non-Hiranandani residents) and Bombay Scottish uncertain.
Has anyone any feedback on Prime Academy?
Also, which Poddar school would be closer to Nahar, Chandavili? Any other options? Gopal Sharma is out - their admissions are already over.
Thanks in advance!
Frankly, havent got a very good feedback for Gopal Sharma or Hiranandani for the higher standards. S M Shetty IGCSE is supposed to be good though the fees are bit more though much lower than the rest of the IB schools...Around 70000 for Jr. Kg. Think of it as an investment for the extracurricular activities that they provide...
Prime Academy is close to Marol. It is ICSE and fees are around 70,000 for Jr. Kg
same problem facing by us. Our child is 4 yr old & now we are going to shift Powai near Hiranandani. As we are belong to Medium Class, so cost of school is also important factor for deciding where to get admisssion. I need help as we can spend up to 30,000 annually for the study so plz refer good school which also not have more financial burden. We can also think Gujarati school too. Please guide us as already late for getting admission
txs a lot
