To start with,  I find below to be excellent for  teaching grammer to small kids

"Fun with grammer" Introductory A/B by macmillan publications and they have same title for class 1-6 as well.

In case any has find some books to be really good and would like to share, pls. write.
These books can be part of your c hild's curriculam.

DK First encyclopedia ,DK First Dictionary are very good books for kids.

Encyclopedia book has information about science, Human body, earth, Food, Buildings etc with colourful pictures and useful information.

All the DK First series books are good.

Roshmom,

Can you please suggest some english good grammar books for my 5/6 year old child? Also, I would like to each my child about "place Value"concept. Any suggestion of books and ideas to make her understand in a fun way.

RoshMom 2012-03-19 10:03:23

Anwesha,

We don't use any specific workbooks for grammar as we get enough materials from school to work on. But We have tried some. I can't rate any of them as best.  we have tried Teachers4Teachers publisher's Grammar conventions series, which is colorful but not much is covered, Oxford univ press' Let's go series - Good but not attractive for kids and not many topics are covered. Modern Publishing (Honey bear publishers') grammar book has many variety of excercises (i have seen books in this publishing for only small children).  Visit landmark or crossword to find suitable one.

To teach Place value concept, I used lego building blocks. Check the 'Math can be fun' thread (towards the end of the thread for the suggestion).. Hope that will be useful.

SAP books for Grammar and vocabulary are good. (My kids are in Grade 1). I got them from flipkart at a good rate

Also the site www.enchantedlearning.com is very good for maths concepts, EVS and English vocabulary in a fun way

Place value concepts, multiplicatrion concepts are fun.

mathaid.com is also a good site for teaching place value.

Also as Roshmom has mentioned, I have also been using blocks and tiles to teach place value, addition and subtraction with carryover and borrowing.
