My son is also studying in 1st std., Don't pressurise you lil for this, bcoz they are not all considering 1st grade for this exam. Since they don't know to read the questions by themselves, teachers going to help them completly. All my nephews and niece had taken this exam sicne 1st std.,My Brother said whatever we practice, the question paper will be different and it will be like "Greek & Latin". If you want to try, teach him based on the topics given for ex., For IMO teach everything about Measurement, coins, etc.,

Hi,

Could someone please help me with SOF (software olympiad) books and sample question papers for class 1? Also, please suggest me some websites where I can subscribe for these books online.

Here in Bombay we get books published by The SOF for all 4 subjects. There is a book called "BMA's Talent & Olympiad Exam Resource Book". These books are good for practice. Yes, the papers are pretty simple than the ones in the book. But these books are good just for overall knowledge too.

Hi All,

The books can be found on flipkart and i got them through the same. you can browse for maths workbooks for class1 also on flipkart for practice. choose which suits best .

you can download the sample paper from sofworld, but this is only for maths.. i did not find any sample paper for english though for class 1.

Thanks,

Sai.

There are various series of books available including Brain Mapping Academy (BMA), Singapore Asian Publication (SAP) and MTG. As mentioned earlier in this thread, these are available through Flipkart.

Parents, can you clarify one doubt of me? At this stage in Class-1 when they are not so perfect in reading. How they will read the questions in olympiad exam.Teachers help there or they read on their own. My son is in class-1.He didn't start  any preparation yet. But i'm planning to purchase MTG work books.Am I late?School has not sent any notification yet.Not aware much about exam dates.

I have ordered one book through www.bmatalent.com.I didn't get book after 5 days .I always used the services of flipkart.com.They are very fast.Is bmatalent.com reliable.

Hi Parents,

I think kids at such a tender age should not get so much of pressure.

I am a dad of 9 and 4 yr old boys. My 1st boy came in 1st position in the recent Velammal's State Level Science Talent Search Test(Just for fact, not to boast)

Let us give them a Peaceful Childhood to heave a Healthier Brain.

Just a opinion worth for 2 cents....

 Hello Gnanavel

I don't think i'm putting so much pressure to crack this olympiad exam. He is taking interest in solving sample papers, shouldn't i go further. I won't pressurise him.I will only make him solve these workbooks.I know at this tender age we should not put much pressure but we cannot neglect these exams completely.Learning always comes naturally not forcefully.I want to know other parents opinion. Shouldn't we prepare for olympiad in Class-1?

My son's school offers olympiad in three subjects Maths,English & Computers. Can anybody help me in deciding for which i should go for.Should i go for all three ? We have not started preparation yet. He is good in Maths, English. He remains more interested in Maths. But Computer is introduced only this year.He  knows practically how to operate computer very well. But don't take much interest in computer book given by school because this book is boring & i don't understand. Teacher don't  make them understand the concepts so well. Even i feel that book is very confusing. Should i make him prepare for computer olympiad. Or i should concentrate only on Maths & English.Pls. reply because we have to start preparation.Another question 3 months are enough time for preparation.I know it depends on child's capability. But in general I want to know other parents point of view.
