Hi,

We live in the US and are planning of moving back to B'lore for the academic year 2010 - 2011. My son will be 3 years in Oct 2009 and we would like to start him in LKG in Jun 2010. I know some schools are very particular about age and hence he might not get into LKG. Can someone please help me with best schools near Srirampura or Hebbal area?

I have heard and seen the website for Rashtrothana vidya kendra, but I would like to get some review from parents.

Hi,

I live in hebbal area and can give you some details on schools in this area:

Vidya sagar - play school which feeds into Vidya niketan/vidya shilp.  LKG for oct born kid  in 2010 is not possible here - has to get into one level before that.  will  be eligible for their Prep 1(equivalent to LKG) only in 2011 here.  This school feeds into vidyaniketan and vidyashilp ( read http://www.parentree.in/groupdiscussion-576/which-is-the-best-school-in-Hebbal--Bangalore--Vidya-niketan--DPS-Yelahanka.html).  There will be waiting list in sagar but if you opt for Vidya shilp, there is high chance of you getting in.   Niketan/shilp admissions start only for 1st grade.

Kensri - has co & extra curricular options but not sure about the academic standard - esp the quality of teachers.

Sindhi school - have not heard many good things

Royal concorder international school on ring road, Ryan Internation school, DPS are other options.

I hear good things about  'Buddhi shcool' in RMV extension (not far from Hebbal) - you may want to check out.

Aditi Mallya, Canadian International, Bangalore International schools - all offering IGCSE.  Aditi definitely needs parents to apply a year before or something like that.  All these are good for IGCSE - canadian has more expat population.  Aditi is a bit on the higher side.

All the best,

Cheers,

Sumo

Thanks Sumo,

Do you have any idea about Rashtrothana vidya kendra?

My Daughter is studying at Rashtrothana Vidya Kendra ( Thanisandra) in LKG. They generally give admission to Dec-Dec born kids. That means, kid must be 3 years 6 month old by Jun in order to give admission to LKG.

About the school, premises is big and they have very good place for sports and swimming activities. Teachers to student ration is good (18-20). Teachers will give individual attention to kids. Main good thing about school is (which I like most), they have very good value for our traditions and customs. They celebrate all festivals traditionally including kids birthdays.

Very useful opinion... am admitting my child to this school. Only issue for me is that we live in Sahakaranagar & the school is in Thanisandra, about 8 Kms away (by the shortest route via Jakkur). Otherwise, they have a beautiful campus & the fee is quite decent too. Not heard much about the teaching quality though.

Can someone throw more light on this aspect?

Hi,

I need to discuss more about this school with you. Can you let me know if you are satisfied with the quality of education imparted? Will you be continuing your kid in the same school? I hear conflicting opinions on the teaching quality in this school. The fees is quite high ... is it commensurate with the quality of coaching imparted??? Will really look forward to receiving your opinion.
