Apr 3, 2012 7:46 PM Share

PSBB Millenium Gerugambakkam / GST is charging exhorbitantly as book charges. This is what I copied from ther website. Book fee 2012 - 2013.
1 PRE KG Rs 5,000/-
2 LKG Rs 5,250/-
3 UKG Rs 5,750/-
4 STD-1 Rs 7,250/-
5 STD-2 Rs 7,850/-
6 STD-3 Rs 9,250/-
7 STD-4 Rs 9,500/-
8 STD-5 Rs 9,500/-
9 STD-6 Rs 10,500/-
10 STD-7 Rs 10,500/-
11 STD-8 Rs 10,500/-
12 STD-9 Rs 11,000/-

I am shocked. this is like looting parents. 7850 for 2nd standard books? Last time I purchased the same books from outside for less than 500. Does all the schools in this range charge the same? Other parents please let me know.

They have removed the details from ther website within a day. I wonder why?

Dear Parents of PSBBM,

Please let me know your opinion about the teachers and teaching methods followed at PSBBM. I end up spending min 2 hours with my kid everyday. They donât even teach the kids to read and write. All the responsibilities are passed on to the parents. Teachers expect the parents to teach and give practice to the children. All they do is give loads of home works and worksheets. Parents need to teach the kids. Then what is the point in sending them to school? We might as well teach them at home. MY SON HAS JUST NOT LEARNED ANYTHING FROM SCHOOL. We end up teaching him at home and making him do his work sheets.

They have already started noun, verb, adjectives, and prepositions for my 1st standard son. I am not sure if it is part of the 1st standard syllabus for CBSE or they are just trying to over load the kids and expect them to perform 3rd standard level in 1st standard itself. All they do is assign work and expect parents to teach as per the HW allocation.

If you donât know Tamil or Hindi then please opt out of this school. The schools support on second language wonât be enough for your child. Parent would have to teach their kids at home and if you do not â teachers would behave as if the child not performing well is not their mistake but the parents mistake ï

I would really like someone to define the teacherâs responsibility here.

Also no extra curricular activities! In the last 3 â 4 years my son has not participated in any school activities. When I checked with the teacher last year, she said we canât take the pressure of bringing all the 36 students on stage!!!

Valid point⦠but we also need to think about the background of the children our kids mingle with. Also some schools have strength of 40 â 46 per class. Here I it is only 35.

But in PSBBM from what I have seen till now the teachers are not that well trained.

Guys, My suggestion is why are you aiming for the best school? Child will possess more pressure in such schools.. My suggestions is look out for a decent school where their language will improve( English & Hindi Main focus). More over at the end of the Marks does matter when it comes to college cut off's. So no one is going to question your child, if she/He from CBse or matric or stateboard. Marks does matter.

That too if the child is not so good in studies, dont put pressure on them. Try to find a way which is blocking them from studies or is there something else in which they are good at.

Rather than being a Jack of some thing which we wanted, let the child become a king of something he/she good at..

How much is the transportation cost at OMR this year?

Day 1 - I saw teachers and schools management running around in confusion. No planning, no proper list of students to board the bus, no list of private transport providers... scary situation. Area around the campus is also not safe ( that increases your fear)

Now a days, flipkart, homestop-18, infibeam itself gives 25-30% discount and most of the shops also give upto 20% discount, I wonder What on earth school thinks that they can cheat parent like this and parent will not say anything!!
